Automotive Alignment Technician We are looking to hire an experienced tire technician to work in our busy repair shop. As a tire technician, you will be required to inspect and assess damaged or worn tires on customer vehicles, replace or repair damaged tires, and balance or rotate tires. You may also be required to perform specialty work such as retreading tires for off-road vehicles, and providing roadside assistance. To ensure success as a tire technician, you should have good communication skills and be able to perform physically demanding tasks. Ultimately, an outstanding tire technician can work quickly and efficiently, while maintaining high industry standards. Job Responsibilities:
- Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
- Drives vehicle onto wheel alignment rack and tests vehicle for faulty wheel alignment, bent axle, worn ball joints and bent steering rods.
- Straightens axle and steering rods, adjusts shims, tie rods and joining pins to align wheels or install new parts.
- Places wheel on balancing machine to determine where counterweights must be added to balance wheel.
- Hammers counterweights onto rim of wheel.
- Installs shock absorbers.
- Straightens frame with hydraulic jack, chassis aligner and acetylene torch.
- Attends manufacturer product training as requested.
- Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Other tasks as assigned.
- Relevant experience of 1-3 years in the automotive industry is preferred.
- Proficiency in modern vehicles equipped.
- Familiarity with testing vehicle systems is necessary.
- The ability to identify and rectify issues in vehicle systems and components is necessary.
- Activeness, attentiveness and a responsible attitude.
- Self-motivated to take action and to do more than what is expected in order to deliver excellent service.
- Carries out job duties in a manner that demonstrates ability to achieve the expected level of efficiency, quality, and customer service.
- Completes tasks accurately, thoroughly and with an eye toward quality, and in accordance with established processes and procedures.
