:In this role, you will provide comprehensive veterinary care to the animal population (mammals, fish, reptiles, birds, and invertebrates) as well as providing support for the affiliated regional marine life rescue and rehabilitation program.You will be integral to the maintenance of the Marine Park's high animal welfare standards and to the advancement of the field and science of marine animal health. This role will assist and participate in the animal welfare program and play an active role in research opportunities.Your job scope also includes:
Assists with veterinary treatments and procedures for all aspects of collection as directed by Veterinarians
Coordinates medical procedures, treatment, routine husbandry behavioral scheduling and other protocols as directed by the leadership teams
Maintains and cleans the medical areas, surgical room and equipment
Performs pharmaceutical and medical supplies inventories and updates the tracker accordingly
Participates in the medical care of rescued wildlife including but not limited to dugongs, birds, sea turtles, and cetaceans
Assists with anesthetic procedures, radiology procedures, collection of veterinary samples, and preparation of samples for diagnostic testing
Consults and educates the animal colleagues, leadership teams and occasionally guests, in areas of health, welfare, and husbandry
Assists with animal health research projects and prepares data results for presentations and peer-reviewed publications
Assists in maintaining all animal records
Assists in the field for rescues, health assessments and field research with various species when required
Works in varying shifts/hours based on business need, to include opening, mid-, and closing shifts; weekends, and holidays
Lifts, carries, pushes, pulls up to 50 lbs. / 20kg on occasion; extensive walking or standing indoors or outdoors; tasks that involve repetitive motions such as bending, stooping, or lifting
Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:Diploma in a related field or equivalent
Ability to obtain a license or certification for veterinary technician in the UAE as required
At least 3 years of proven experience in a veterinary hospital as a Veterinary Technician
Familiarity with professional zoo/aquarium communities and non-domestic species
Previous experience with data entry, various hematology and reproductive analyzers and equipment maintenance schedules
Excellent English communication skills and teamwork abilities
Ability to be flexible and adapt quickly as the needs of the animal collection develop
Knowledge in current computer application, including in MS Office
