PurposeCigna continues to expand across the Middle East and Africa region through an innovative array of products that meet the growing needs of the health insurance market. The underwriting team has played a key role in this success of Cigna MEA and are looking to recruit a Trainee underwriter to join the team based in Dubai. Cigna is dedicated to fostering talent and providing growth opportunities for individuals passionate about the insurance industry.This position will be involved in pricing new business and renewals for medical insurance products and collaborating with commercial stakeholders to grow the business.Key Accountabilities & TrainingAssist in evaluating risk and price SME new business and renewals by working with relevant salespeople and account managers.Learn to assess claims history, medical disclosures, or other relevant data to make informed decisions.Prepare Table of Benefits and inception documents for renewals and new business inceptions.Learn market dynamics; understanding the competition, the environment and clients needs.Support in ensuring UW guidelines meet compliance requirements from a pricing and benefit point of view.Participate in problem solving activities to define problems, identify root causes, suggest solutions for continuous improvements of processes and procedures to work more efficiently and effectively.Utilize and adhere to internal guidelines and procedures to ensure that all assigned work is processed in timely manner and meet compliant standards.TrainingThe trainee Underwriter will undergo a comprehensive training to develop the skills and knowledge necessary and will work closely with experienced underwriters. The training schedule is including but not limited to:
  • Risk assessment and analysis
  • Underwriting concepts: Premium, claims, Loss Ratio, IBNR, Outstanding, Trend etc.
Underwriting tools and guidelines
  • Health Insurance regulations and competitive landscape
  • Cigna products and benefits
Education and ExperienceBachelors degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Mathematics, Engineering or similarProficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is a must.CapabilitiesDetail-oriented with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.High level of numeracy & accuracyAbility to take ownership and time management.Manage stakeholder expectations.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.This role is currently accepting applications from UAE Nationals only.About Cigna HealthcareCigna Healthcare, a division of The Cigna Group, is an advocate for better health through every stage of life.
