What you will doThe Trade Compliance Specialist is a key role directly reporting to the Senior Plant Manager. You will be based in Umm Al Quwain, and will be responsible for administrating and executing the Global Trade Compliance program at regional level in accordance with company objectives, policies, and procedures. The Trade Compliance Specialist is accountable for ensuring that JCI compliance organizations within Middle East & US conduct import/export activities compliantly in accordance with local country laws and regulations.As a member of this team, you will be working closely with logistics, trade compliance organizations within other regions, global trade compliance, and other functional areas within the company.How you will do itAs a Trade Compliance Specialist, you will implement and manage all elements of the Global Trade Compliance Program and drive implementation of management systems and automated controls. You will use your expertise to ensure that daily, weekly, monthly import/export functions, reports and monitoring activities are performed, reported accurately and timely and ensure that preventative and detective controls are monitored and are being used in accordance with policy, rules and regulations. You will consolidate monthly Customs Compliance Alert reports from branches in the region and review amendments to international trade and customs related legislation, research, report on the impact of such amendments, and publish related Newsflashes, when appropriate.You will liaise with Senior Management of the different sites to get the necessary support for the implementation of the different import and export compliance projects. You will facilitate the import and export of JCI products across borders, including obtaining any necessary permits and licenses and enhance export controls and screening processes across the region.You will coordinate KPIs/metrics reporting relating to import and export transactions and maintain compliance with and proficiency of rules, regulations and policies enforced by government agencies involved in the regulation of imported or exported goods in the region.What we look forRequired
Bachelor Degree in Law / Business Administration or in similar field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Trade Compliance role
Minimum 5 years of experience in dealing with international trade compliance laws
Ability to work with the legal, sales, and finance personnel in the Middle East to ensure that the international trade compliance laws are followed.
Demonstrable experience with transactional and corporate legal work for international companies
Process-driven, detail oriented, self-motivated and analytical.
Effective oral and written communication and organization skills
Self-starter with good problem-solving skills and a client service focus
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of tools, with specific experience in Power Point, Excel and database creation and maintenance
Experience supporting international regulated business.
