Job Overview TE Connectivity's Tooling Teams perform the manufacturing functions related to metal working dies and tool making. They are responsible for completing all assignments to construct, modify and condition metal working dies and may fabricate new gages, cutting or forming tools and fixtures by analyzing blueprints, sketches, models and engineering or shop specifications. They perform precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensions; recommend revisions in design and/or substitutions in material based on machinability or fabrication problems encountered; and solve problems relating to unusual materials, machine settings, fabrication methods, and production process. Every team member is responsible for maintaining housekeeping and organization of the work area as well as following TE Connectivity's EH&S policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with product designers and engineers to understand the requirements for mold designs. Develop innovative and efficient mold designs that consider factors such as production efficiency, part quality, and ease of maintenance. Identify opportunities for improvement in existing mold designs to enhance performance, reduce cycle times, and increase overall efficiency. Implement design modifications based on feedback from production teams and lessons learned from previous molds. Integrate features into mold designs that facilitate easier maintenance, cleaning, and repair. Collaborate with maintenance teams to understand their needs and incorporate design elements that simplify the maintenance process. Evaluate and select appropriate materials for mold components, considering factors such as durability, wear resistance, and ease of machining. Stay informed about advancements in mold materials and incorporate new technologies into design practices. Create detailed documentation for mold designs, including specifications, materials used, and maintenance guidelines. Establish and promote design standards to ensure consistency and quality across all molds. Provide technical support and guidance to maintenance teams during the implementation of design improvements. Share insights and best practices related to mold design, maintenance, and improvement.
What your background should look like:
'BTS/DUT' degree in Mechanical Engineering. Experience in mold design, with a focus on continuous improvement and maintenance. Proficiency in CAD software for 3D modeling and design. Strong understanding of materials and manufacturing processes related to mold production. Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams. Familiarity with mold maintenance practices and challenges.
