Job Description

A Mason Worker is responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining structures made of brick, concrete blocks, stone, and other materials. The Mason Worker must have a strong understanding of construction techniques and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans.

Key Responsibilities:

- Construction: Lay out work using chalk lines, plumb bobs, tapes, squares, and levels. Construct walls, floors, fireplaces, chimneys, and other structures using various masonry materials.

- Repairs: Repair and restore structures made of bricks, concrete, or other masonry materials.

- Preparation: Prepare surfaces and materials by cleaning, cutting, or shaping to ensure proper adhesion.

- Mixing: Mix cement, sand, and water to produce mortar or grout for spreading on surfaces.

- Installation: Install various masonry works such as stone steps, archways, sills, hearths, and other decorative or functional elements.

- Safety: Adhere to safety procedures and ensure that tools and equipment are used correctly to avoid accidents.

- Maintenance: Maintain tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working order.

- Team Collaboration: Work effectively with other construction team members and communicate progress and challenges to supervisors.

Qualifications:

- Experience: Minimum of [X] years of experience as a Mason or similar role in construction.

- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an apprenticeship program in masonry preferred.

- Skills:

- Proficient in laying bricks, stones, and blocks.

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

- Knowledge of safety standards and procedures.

- Licenses/Certifications: Relevant masonry certifications are a plus.

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to lift heavy materials and tools (up to 50 lbs).

- Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, bending, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.

- Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
