Overview

***This position will be physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP***

Under supervision of Telecommunication Projects Supervisor and/or Communications O&M Supervisor, t he Telecommunications Technician Lead will direct the work of others and ensure tasks are completed per industry standard and within Company policies. The Lead will design, install, troubleshoot and maintain company telecommunication systems and adjunct equipment. Must demonstrate a clear understanding of the concepts and procedures associated with best practices in the telecommunication field and provide training on telecommunication equipment and systems.

Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

+ Provide supervision for the junior telecom technicians and give guidance while working in the field.

+ Ensures all team members are aware of their responsibilities and that they provide communications support to the COR and local customer.

+ Oversees the daily operations of work assignments for the Outside Plant / Inside Plant personnel.

+ Resolve or troubleshoot problems and/or issues which may occur with any type of installation.

+ Able to use a variety of test equipment to isolate, identify, analyze equipment trouble and take appropriate maintenance action.

+ Respond to emergency service requests affecting all communication systems.

+ Able to understand flow charts, equipment manuals and technical documentation.

+ Must possess excellent customer service skills.

+ Ensure all safety rules and regulations are followed by the team.

+ Performs other duties and assignments as required.

Qualifications

+ Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

+ High School Diploma or Equivalent

+ Must be a U.S. Citizen

+ Must be able to obtain and maintain valid Secret Clearance

+ A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a U. S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator's License and host nation Driver's License, is required.

+ A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Kuwait Heavy Duty Driver's License.

+ Experience:

+ 3-5 Years experience as a Telecommunications Technician, installing, trouble shooting, repair, splicing, terminating and conducting site surveys

+ 3-5 years' experience in the use of power tools and various test equipment

+ 3-5 years' experience reading communications drawings/diagrams

+ Skills:

+ Must possess a professional demeanor; work effectively with all levels of employees, including top, middle and other supervisory levels of military and civilian management; customer service training; must have the ability to exercise discretion and good judgment; collaborative work style that will foster cooperation and teamwork; work independently with little or no supervision.; possess high-level organizational and planning skills, possess the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written.

+ Must possess an advanced level of computer skills in the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

+ Must have the ability to analyze and solve complex telecom issues/problems

+ Must be able to fully understand the communication installation processes

+ Must have good listening, verbal and written presentation skills

+ Must be able to effectively communicate technical information in English, both written and oral.

+ Supervisory Responsibilities:

+ Will lead a team of approximately 8-15

+ Working Conditions:

+ Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

+ Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months).

+ Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.

+ Physical Requirements:

+ Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

+ Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.

+ Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.

+ Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
