We are seeking an experienced Ship Chandler (Technical Supplies) with a strong background in the UAE's maritime industry. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of ship chandling, procurement, and supply chain management for technical stores, ensuring timely and high-quality deliveries to vessels. This role requires expertise in sourcing, negotiating, and delivering essential technical supplies, including deck, engine, and safety equipment. Key Responsibilities: Procurement & Supply Chain Management: - Source, procure, and supply a wide range of technical stores, including deck, engine, machinery, and safety equipment for vessels. - Develop and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers to secure the best quality products at competitive prices. - Ensure all procured items comply with IMO, SOLAS, and other maritime regulations. - Monitor inventory levels and coordinate timely restocking of essential supplies. - Oversee logistics and delivery schedules to ensure prompt and efficient supply to vessels. Client & Vendor Relations: - Liaise with shipowners, vessel operators, and procurement managers to understand specific technical supply requirements. - Provide expert recommendations on suitable products based on vessel needs. - Handle vendor negotiations, ensuring cost-effective procurement without compromising quality. - Maintain excellent relationships with port authorities, suppliers, and ship crews for smooth operations. Operations & Compliance: - Ensure timely and accurate delivery of supplies to vessels at various UAE ports. - Supervise the inspection, packaging, and transportation of technical supplies to prevent damage or loss. - Keep updated with port regulations, customs clearance procedures, and documentation requirements for seamless deliveries. - Maintain proper records of transactions, supplier agreements, and client orders. Quality Assurance & Cost Control: - Conduct regular market research to stay updated on the latest products and pricing trends. - Evaluate supplier performance and suggest improvements to optimize procurement strategies. - Minimize operational costs while ensuring the highest quality standards for technical supplies. Requirements: Experience & Skills: - Minimum 5+ years of experience in ship chandling (technical supplies) within the UAE. - Deep knowledge of deck, engine, and safety equipment used in marine operations. - Strong understanding of maritime procurement regulations, port operations, and customs procedures. - Proven experience in vendor negotiation, supply chain management, and logistics coordination. - Ability to manage multiple orders, deliveries, and client expectations simultaneously. Education & Certifications: - Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field (preferred). - Certification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management is an advantage. Soft Skills: - Excellent communication and negotiation skills. - Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. - Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office, inventory management software, and ERP systems. - Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic or other languages is a plus.
