The successful candidate will technically assist the ASPIRE Research Institute for Food Security in the Drylands. This institute features a comprehensive and highly interdisciplinary R&D program and provides an international collaboration platform for researchers and stakeholders of the public and private food and agricultural sector. It strives to generate knowledge and technological innovation in support of food security in the UAE and other arid environments of the world. As part of one of its research themes, the institute is aiming to characterise woody plants native to the UAE for their potential as amulti purpose trees and shrubs. The aim is to identify species that are resilient to climate change and can contribute to the production of animal feed, medicinal or nutraceutical compounds. To support this work, we seek to hire a technical research assistant to support experimental work on our research stations. This involves the conduction of regular field visits, monitoring of plant health, provision of daily care to greenhouse and shade house trials, and routinely maintaining the climatic change chamber sensors. The successful candidate regularly reports to the project managers and assists other research staff and graduate students. The position is for the duration of one year with the possibility of renewal on an annual basis.Minimum QualificationA bachelor's degree or a diploma plus a minimum of one year working experience in the field of agriculture or horticulture.Preferred Qualification
