Job Title: Technical Manager - Joinery Industry

Job Summary:
The Technical Manager in the Joinery Industry is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of the joinery production process, ensuring that products meet the required specifications, quality standards, and technical requirements. This role involves managing the technical team, providing expert guidance on design, production, and installation, and ensuring that all projects are executed with precision and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of joinery manufacturing techniques, strong problem-solving abilities, and leadership skills to drive technical excellence across projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Oversight and Management:
• Lead the technical team in developing and implementing technical solutions for custom joinery projects.
• Provide expert technical guidance on product design, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
• Ensure that all technical drawings, shop drawings, and production plans are accurate and meet project specifications.
• Oversee the entire lifecycle of joinery products, from initial concept to final installation.
2. Production and Process Optimization:
• Work closely with the production team to optimize joinery manufacturing processes, ensuring efficient use of materials, labor, and machinery.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency, quality, and reduce wastage.
• Analyze and solve production-related technical problems, ensuring minimal disruption to timelines.
• Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and used in accordance with safety standards.
3. Quality Control and Assurance:
• Establish and maintain quality control standards across all phases of production, ensuring that all products meet client specifications and company standards.
• Develop quality control procedures and ensure that the production team follows them rigorously.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits of products during and after production to identify and address any technical or quality issues.
• Implement corrective actions to address any defects or discrepancies in products.
4. Project Technical Support:
• Collaborate with project managers, designers, and clients to understand project technical requirements and provide support during the design and planning phases.
• Ensure that technical requirements are clearly communicated to the production and installation teams.
• Provide technical support on-site during installation phases, addressing any technical issues that arise and ensuring that the installation process meets the required standards.
5. Team Leadership and Development:
• Manage, mentor, and develop the technical team, including draftsmen, engineers, and other technical staff.
• Conduct training sessions to improve the technical skills of the team and keep them updated on the latest industry practices and technologies.
• Ensure clear communication and coordination between the technical, design, and production teams.
6. Research and Innovation:
• Stay updated with the latest developments in joinery technologies, materials, and tools.
• Lead initiatives to introduce new technologies, materials, or processes to improve the company's technical capabilities.
• Drive innovation within the technical department to improve product offerings and streamline production.
7. Health and Safety Compliance:
• Ensure that all technical processes comply with health and safety regulations.
• Implement safety protocols and ensure that the technical team adheres to safety standards, both in the factory and on-site.
• Conduct risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards in the production and installation processes.
8. Client and Stakeholder Communication:
• Act as the technical point of contact for clients, addressing any concerns or queries related to technical specifications and production processes.
• Participate in client meetings to provide technical input during project discussions and briefings.
• Ensure that technical documentation and specifications are clearly communicated to all relevant stakeholders.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Wood Technology, Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field.
• Advanced knowledge of joinery production techniques, woodworking machinery, and materials.
• Certification in project management or related technical fields is a plus.
Skills:
• Strong technical expertise in joinery manufacturing processes, materials, and production.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
• Leadership and team management skills, with experience managing technical teams.
• Proficient in using CAD software and other design or project management tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with clients, production teams, and stakeholders.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience:
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in the joinery or woodworking industry, with at least 3 years in a technical management role.
• Proven experience in managing large-scale custom joinery projects, from design to production and installation.
• Experience with quality control, production optimization, and process improvement.
