About the JobThe jobholder is responsible to lead the automation and control for the entire Borouge Complex in Ruwais to achieve the targeted availability & reliability of the plant equipment and systems, ensuring smooth operations and safe working conditions for the plant, processes, and personnel in line with the Maintenance\' strategies, plan, policies, and practices.This role includes leading the technical expertise in the areas of Automation & Control and its relevant systems to support the projects, engineering, and asset\'s reliability to operate safely and effectively.Key AccountabilitiesTechnical Support
  • Review suggestions for modifications to existing BGS, Standard Drawings and Philosophies from DDC or Project Consultants for Technical Projects.
  • Determine requirements and keep track of past design related issues, lessons learnt, design change approvals etc.
  • Supervise and assign participation in the preparation of specifications and drawings, and advice Engineering Standards / Specifications to the relevant stakeholder.
  • Review and approve the Engineering design and material for the modification and renovation projects in the plant and building facilities.
  • Review SPIR and Bill of material (BOM) for the newly installed equipment\'s and confirm availability in EDMS and SAP.
  • Provide guidance and advice on Instrumentation & Automation, and design and selection aspects for projects, studies, proposals, upgrades, modifications, modernizations, revamps, expansions, and repairs.
  • Review and draft requirements for technology selection, vendor selection, design, installation, and implementation of state-of-the-art Control & Automation related to requirements of Operating Plants.
  • Provide advice on actions to be taken on technical issues related to Instrumentation, Automation and Control, and determine solutions with concerned personnel.
Automation & Control Reliability
  • Contribute to the proper cascade of Borouge OIC (Operation Integrity committee) Presentations, Safety critical procedures, lesson learned from other Assets or other ADNOC OPCOs to the team on regular basis.
  • Participate in system failure root cause analysis, approve modifications for equipment to improve efficiency and maintenance strategy.
  • Review the implementing Engineering and other Systems Minor Changes for maintenance for the reliability improvement.
  • Ensure the 100% operability and availability of all relevant systems and equipment\'s with proper P3M planning and analysis.
  • Review the log of On-call and daily activities with prominence on certifying quality and validate the technical report on abnormal conditions prepared by teams.
Projects Engineering
  • Plays key role in finalizing, reviewing, and evaluating of engineering packages for new projects; participate in S.O.R & scope related studies, Basic and Detail Design Studies, Technology selection, Hazop and SIL study, Factory Acceptance & Site Acceptance Tests (FAT/SAT) which cover Automation and Control aspect.
  • Review FEED and EPC engineering specification to ensure the design facilitates and meets plant performance and reliability requirement, cost effectively.
  • Provide support and assign resources for Technical Evaluation of Studies, Major and Minor Project Bids (FEED and EPC), Vendor pre-qualification, Bidder evaluation, FEED and EPC Project personnel evaluation including technical interviews and selection.
  • Raise Contract Requests and Work Service Orders for Project related jobs, evaluate, and provide technical recommendations on design and scope changes leading to variations and claims, and provide support to related departments in evaluating claim costs.
  • Ensure using company approved vendor\'s list for new project equipment, participates in pre-commissioning/ commissioning and performance testing of control and automation systems, and review test results and advises acceptance.
  • Through projects, intimate dialogue with vendors for resolving post-commissioning problems and fine tuning all Automation and Control related equipment.
  • Coordinate instrumentation and control interfaces between existing systems and ongoing projects to ensure optimum system design and smooth pre-commissioning changeover.
  • Closely, monitor and control of Automation and Control in Turnaround activities including planning, material, resource availability, safe execution and close out, and review and evaluate bids submitted by contractors or by engineers for coverage and technical content.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Instrumentation & Control, Electronics, Electrical, or related Engineering Discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of technical experience in Automation environment, Technical Projects, or Operations for Oil & Gas, Petrochemical Industries.
  • Minimum of 6 years of the experience as Senior Automation/ Technical Engineer.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in people management occupations.
  • Working knowledge on HSE policies applicable in chemical & petrochemical industry.
  • Knowledge and understanding of planning tools, techniques, philosophy, and processes existing in an oil/gas or petrochemical industry.
  • Hands on CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System).
  • Facilitation execution by overcoming barriers and obstacles within the complex projects/conditions. And initiate inter-departmental collaboration on projects or methods of operating.
Professional Certifications
  • Certified Project Management, i.e. PMP is preferred.
