The Switchgear Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and engineering of switchgear systems and related equipment. This role involves creating detailed electrical and mechanical designs, performing calculations, selecting components, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of switchgear technology, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for innovation.
Responsibilities:
Develop detailed electrical and mechanical designs for low voltage switchgear systems.
Create schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and other engineering drawings.
Perform electrical calculations, including load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination studies.
Select appropriate components, such as circuit breakers, disconnect switches, protection relays, and control devices.
Design control and protection systems for switchgear assemblies.
Technical Specifications and Standards:
Interpret and apply industry standards and regulations, such as IEC, ANSI, and IEEE.
Ensure that designs meet customer specifications and project requirements.
Prepare technical specifications, datasheets, and design reports.
Component Selection and Evaluation:
Evaluate and select switchgear components based on technical performance, reliability, and cost.
Collaborate with suppliers to ensure component compatibility and availability.
Conduct testing and validation of components and assemblies.
Collaboration and Coordination:
Work closely with other engineering disciplines, such as mechanical, control, and protection engineers.
Coordinate with manufacturing and production teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
Provide technical support to sales, marketing, and project management teams.
Problem Solving and Troubleshooting:
Identify and resolve design issues and technical challenges.
Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Provide technical support for installation, commissioning, and maintenance activities.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate design records and documentation.
Prepare technical reports, presentations, and design reviews.
Ensure that all design changes are properly documented and communicated.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated on the latest switchgear technologies and industry trends.
Identify opportunities for design improvements and cost optimization.
Participate in research and development activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Proven experience in switchgear design or related electrical equipment design.
Strong knowledge of switchgear systems, components, and protection principles.
Proficiency in electrical design software, such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar.
Familiarity with electrical calculations and simulation tools.
Understanding of industry standards and regulations.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to work within a team.
Preferred Skills:
Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Experience with low voltage switchgear design.
Knowledge of protection relaying and control systems.
Experience with 3D modeling software.

Pay: AED3,000.00 - AED5,000.00 per month
