Supervisor - Underwriting (Employee Benefits)
Organization: One of the Leading Insurance Companies in UAE. Job Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates. JOB PURPOSE: The job holder is responsible to process new Business in line with company guidelines in order to maintain company profitability and protect the company from anti-selection. This job also requires to maintain and enhance renewal business retention ratio, to maintain and enhance New Business Conversion Ratio. OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensures all relevant policies, processes, standard operating procedures so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner. Maintains effective relation with clients (and prospective clients). Reviews cases received from officers/Sr. Officers and submits to Asst. Manager/Manager which are above the authority limit. Underwriting Activities (New Business and Renewals): Prepares and reviews quotes in line with corporate guidelines and underwriting authority limit. Reviews renewal notices and follow-up renewal with clients & producers. Receives Client's / Brokers and BDMs daily queries in respect of medical insurance. Performs Business analysis for new business cases. Prepares and reviews policy documents. Processes quotations/tenders requests as per company standard underwriting guidelines. Prepares client's corresponding letters/faxes/emails. Monitors renewal process and communicates with clients regarding renewal up to authority limits. Coordinates with the internal department in respect of daily policy servicing. Reviews Medical and Associated Quotations, and summary of benefits, terms and premium rates for issuance of policies. Ensures firm order & bind cover with RI are received. Performs issuance of quotations, binders and associated documents. Underwrites new and renewal business and reviews the quotations prepared by senior officers. Responds to customers and producers requests for coverage and queries on timely basis. Follows up with the Insured or Brokers for any outstanding information required to complete the underwriting file. Ensures Cover Confirmation to Operations Department for system booking is done timely. Reviews the Reports (claims, production, and renewal) as and when required. Liaise with Operations/Finance on system bookings and premium collection. Reviews the invoice, policy document & endorsement. Reviews policy draft, Terms and conditions. Liaises with Reinsurance for terms (when required). Reviews Portfolio Trend Analysis for Life, Travel and Personal Accident schemes. Ensures monthly declarations are received, reviewed and accounted for in a timely manner. Communicates to Asst. Manager/Manager all Lives with Sum Insured exceeding FCL for proper underwriting. Liaises with Claims dept. for analysis when required. Interacts and follows-up with producers to obtain required underwriting information. Documentation and Administrative Work: Reviews Quotations/tenders and ensures timely submission. Ensures proper communication to clients/brokers and reinsurers are maintained. Reviews policy documents/invoices/closing notes. Reviews Assessment sheets. Reports: Ensures the Management is provided with appropriate reports regarding the unit and compliance with operational policy and procedures. PEOPLE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES: To follow and perform any other job-related instructions / duties requested by their Management. KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Underwriting team. Distribution, Bancassurance, Operations, Reinsurance, Claims, IT, Risk Management and Finance departments. QUALIFICATIONS, RELEVANT CERTIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: YEARS & NATURE OF EXPERIENCE: Requires 5 to 7 years of experience. LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: Full Professional Proficiency in English language.
