Job Description

Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Supervisor, Mechanical Assembly position. Fike is a privately held business with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.

Job Summary:

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in the production of Fike Corporation mechanical products in accordance with corporate goals, policies, procedures, and standards to achieve established schedules and standards for quality and time.

Primary Responsibilities:

Directs mechanical assembly manufacturing operations and supervises associated personnel.

Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.

Examines product for conformance to specifications and quality standards.

Maintains time and production records and reviews productions costs and cost trends.

Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

Suggests change in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department.

Reviews work orders for accuracy and completeness.

Maintains thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment for assigned area of responsibility. Stays abreast of developments and trends in manufacturing for application in plant; recommends changes in policies and procedures as appropriate. Develops and encourages innovative ideas in product processing throughout the operation.

Requisitions production supplies and tools as necessary.

Reviews time entries ensuring a balance between recorded time and labor charges through the Fike Business System.

Maintains all necessary records for the proper execution of jobs which includes employee and production records.

Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.

Recruits, selects, orients and trains employees in assigned areas of responsibility. Trains employees to processes and safe work practices.

Reviews personnel training logs. Provides coaching, counseling and performance feedback. Coordinates leaves and schedules of staff members. Responds to corrective action issues.

Maintains the confidentiality of all information processed.



Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, use hand to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Job Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor's degree in business, mechanical, manufacturing or industrial engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Five years post degree experience in manufacturing. Five years supervisory and leadership experience.

Preferred:

A diversified background in a variety of manufacturing disciplines. Familiarity with APICS inventory and production control procedures. Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite. Familiarity with JD Edwards software.
