Job Summary: The Structural Fabricator/Fitter is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing structural steel components for various construction and industrial projects. This role involves reading and interpreting blueprints, cutting and shaping steel materials, and fitting them together to create structures that meet precise specifications. The Structural Fabricator/Fitter must ensure that all work complies with industry standards and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities: Fabrication of Structural Components: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the requirements for structural steel fabrication. Measure, cut, bend, and shape steel plates, beams, and other materials using hand and power tools. Perform welding, bolting, or riveting to join steel components securely according to project specifications. Assemble steel structures by fitting and aligning components to ensure they meet design requirements. Installation of Structural Steel: Install fabricated structural steel components on-site, ensuring they are properly aligned and securely fastened. Work with other construction team members to erect steel structures, such as frameworks, bridges, and supports. Ensure that all structural installations are level, plumb, and meet design specifications. Quality Control: Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and complies with all relevant codes and regulations. Identify and rectify any defects or misalignments in fabricated or installed structures. Maintain high standards of workmanship and attention to detail in all fabrication and installation tasks. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines during fabrication and installation work, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Conduct regular safety checks of tools, equipment, and the work environment to prevent accidents and injuries. Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices. Maintenance and Inspection: Perform regular maintenance on fabrication tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition. Keep accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and any repairs performed on tools and equipment. Report any equipment malfunctions, material shortages, or safety concerns to the Fabrication Supervisor or Project Manager. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification in structural fabrication, welding, or a related field. Minimum of five years of experience in structural fabrication and fitting. Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Proficiency in using hand and power tools for cutting, shaping, and joining steel materials. Welding certification or experience is a plus. Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
