1. Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil or Structural Engineering (or related field). A Master's Degree is often preferred, especially for senior positions.
- Professional certifications like Chartered Engineer (CEng), Professional Engineer (PE), or equivalent may be advantageous.
2. Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in structural engineering, specifically in design, analysis, and assessment of structural elements.
- Proven experience working with international and local building codes, particularly UAE building regulations and standards.
- Prior experience with projects in the Middle East, especially in Dubai, is highly valued.
3. Technical Skills
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., ETABS, SAFE, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000).
- Strong skills in AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM software for creating and interpreting structural drawings.
- Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) and computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Familiarity with geotechnical engineering principles for foundation design.
- Understanding of local seismic, wind load, and environmental considerations specific to Dubai.
4. Key Responsibilities
- Structural analysis and design of various building types, ensuring they meet local and international codes.
- Coordinating with architects, MEP engineers, and other team members to integrate structural aspects effectively.
- Preparing and reviewing technical drawings, specifications, and calculations.
- Conducting site inspections to ensure construction is aligned with design intentions.
5. Soft Skills
- Strong communication skills for liaising with project stakeholders and team members.
- Problem-solving abilities to address complex structural challenges.
- Attention to detail in preparing and reviewing technical documentation.
- Project management experience is a plus, as it helps in managing timelines and budgets effectively.
6. Certifications and Licensing
- Registration with a recognized engineering body, such as Dubai Municipality's Structural Engineer registration or SOE-UAE (Society of Engineers - UAE), is often required.
- Additional certifications in sustainability, green building standards (LEED), or project management (PMP) can be beneficial.
7. Language
- Proficiency in English is essential, and knowledge of Arabic can be advantageous for client interactions.
