We are seeking an experienced Structural Design Engineer with at least 8-10 years of professional experience at DUBAI. As the Structural Design Engineer, you will be responsible for,
: o Collaborate with architects and other engineering disciplines to develop structural designs that meet the project's requirements, including safety, functionality, and aesthetics. o Analyze and calculate loads, stresses, and forces acting on the structure to determine appropriate materials and design specifications. o Use computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools to create detailed structural designs, calculations, plans and drawings.
: o Ensure that all structural designs and construction methods comply with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards. o Obtain necessary permits and approvals from relevant authorities for structural aspects of the project.
Feasibility Studies: o Conduct feasibility studies to assess the structural viability of potential real estate development projects. o Provide input on the cost estimates, timelines, and technical challenges associated with structural aspects of the project.
: o Perform structural analysis using software and analytical tools to simulate how the building or structure will behave under various conditions, including loads, earthquakes, and environmental factors. o Identify and address any potential structural weaknesses or issues.
: o Select appropriate construction materials, considering factors such as strength, durability, cost, and environmental impact. o Specify material quality and procurement methods.
: o Collaborate with construction teams to ensure that the structural design is implemented correctly during the construction phase. o Conduct site visits to inspect ongoing construction, identify any deviations from the design, and provide solutions.
: o Implement quality control measures to verify that construction materials and methods meet the required standards. o Perform structural integrity tests and inspections as necessary.
: o Assist in developing and managing the structural engineering portion of the project budget. o Provide input on cost-saving measures without compromising safety or quality.
: o Identify potential risks and challenges related to the structural aspects of the project and develop mitigation plans.
: o Maintain clear and effective communication with project stakeholders, including architects, contractors, project managers, and clients. o Provide regular updates on the progress and status of structural engineering activities.
: o Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including engineering reports, drawings, specifications, and records of structural design decisions and changes. o Create final 'Issued for Construction Drawings' upon final design approvals from authorities, incorporating all design development changes, coordination requirements, authority comments, tender query responses, etc. for issuance to the Contractor.
Responsibilities:
Structural Design:
Provide team support and work under the guidance of Sr. Structural Engineer / Lead CSA for the preparation of concept, scheme, and detailed design calculations and drawings for structural and multi-discipline projects.
Preparation of structural design calculations as per codes and regulation standards
(Regulatory Compliance and Design Resolutions. Ensuring the structural design's compliance with the applicable codes, practices, policies, performance standards, and specifications.)
Preparation of primary structural model using Revit
Preparations of structural design report.
Preparation of connection design and calculations.
Preparation of structural model using Revit
Prepare designs, analytical 3D models, specifications, calculations and drawings for new build schemes; obtain statutory approvals where needed.
Maintain ownership of the structural engineering analysis and design
Prepare risk assessments for maintenance and/or refurbishment projects.
Be accountable for the timely production and delivery of reliable design solutions, reports, specifications and drawings
Ensure all design work is carried out in accordance with Company's quality standard procedures
Provide effective task and structural resource management and monitor against agreed scope, programme and budget
Provide structural technical support and manage the technical accuracy of the project delivery
Be able to present technical aspects of a project and structural design approach to technical and non-technical team members/stakeholders
Possess exceptional digital / structural modelling skills and provide guidance to junior engineers in developing digital skills to required level for the increased efficiency and quality of the structural design
Coordinating with tendering department to assist them with the steel tonnage and other structural requirements.
Coordinating with drafting department to assist them with preparation of Fabrication drawings / Shop drawings as per the project specifications and requirements.
Ability to inspect works carried out on site and monitor quality and compliance with design drawings.
Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge and appreciation of current technical engineering codes and practices and taking a role in technical matters both at project and divisional level
Project Coordination and Structural Inspections:
Participate in Technical & Coordination meetings with Consultant RE, Contractor to resolve technical & coordination issues.
Conduct Major inspections on the different on-going Structural works to ensure conformity with drawings & specifications. Overview site inspection, check and approve finished work.
Review, check and provide observations to Consultant RE on the contractor's engineering submittals / queries.
Review, check and provide observations to Consultant RE of contractor's claims and variations in relation to Structural works.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Structural Engineering field from a recognized University.
Experience working in an international design consultancy.
Experience in the Middle East with an understanding of local codes, standards and authorities is a must.
Prior experience in engineering design primarily in High Rise building structures and in roles of increasing responsibility and project complexity
Demonstrable record of successfully designing and delivering industrial steel structures projects
Experienced in using analytical/design software - structural engineering software including CSi ETABS, SAFE, Robot, Revit, STAAD, SAP 2000, RAM, MAT 3D, Tekla, Prokon, Midas, Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis in addition to in-house spreadsheets.
A solid background knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit software, with ability to carry out coordination and reviews through Revit.
Demonstrable experience of planning and monitoring design programmes, costs and resources ensuring delivery to time and budget - of the Structural Design assignment.
The ideal candidate should possess excellent problem-solving skills as well as the ability to multitask and work well under pressure. They should have good communication skills in order to effectively collaborate and also be able to communicate effectively with the Design team and other stakeholders (Client and/or Main Contractor).
