A Civil Store Keeper is a position typically found in government departments, construction projects, or public works that involve the management, storage, and supply of materials and goods used in civil engineering projects. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that materials are readily available for ongoing projects and that they are properly stored, inventoried, and accounted for.
Key Responsibilities:
• Inventory Management :
• Maintain an accurate inventory of all items (construction materials, tools, etc.) in the store.
• Ensure stock levels are monitored and report shortages or excess to relevant authorities.
• Issuance of Materials :
• Issue materials and equipment to the concerned departments, ensuring that they are used effectively and in a timely manner.
• Keep records of issued materials for tracking and accountability.
• Stock Maintenance :
• Ensure that materials are stored in appropriate conditions to avoid deterioration.
• Implement systems for organizing and categorizing materials for easy access and retrieval.
• Procurement :
• Assist in the procurement process by providing information on materials and quantities required.
• Work with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
• Record Keeping and Reporting :
• Maintain up-to-date records of all incoming and outgoing materials.
• Prepare reports on stock levels, usage, and stock movement for higher management.
• Safety and Compliance :
• Ensure that all safety protocols related to the storage and handling of materials are followed.
• Comply with relevant standards, rules, and regulations regarding material storage, handling, and safety.
• Coordination :
• Liaise with different departments (engineering, procurement, finance) to ensure the smooth flow of materials.
• Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to stock and supply.
• Tools and Equipment Management :
• Oversee the care, maintenance, and availability of tools and equipment used in civil engineering projects.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Knowledge of Civil Materials : A strong understanding of construction materials, their uses, and handling procedures.
• Organizational Skills : Ability to manage a variety of materials and products efficiently.
• Attention to Detail : Ensuring proper documentation and tracking of stock.
• Communication Skills : The ability to work with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams.
