The Role
Responsibilities: Storage Management: o Manage and administer storage infrastructure, including NetApp, IBM SVC, Veritas Appliance for NetBackup, SL500 Tape Library, and HP 3PAR. o Provision, allocate, and manage storage resources based on organizational requirements and performance needs. o Monitor storage capacity, performance, and availability, and take proactive measures to optimize and maintain the storage environment. Backup and Recovery: o Configure and manage backup solutions using Veritas Appliance for NetBackup, including policy creation, backup scheduling, and monitoring. o Perform regular backups of critical data and applications, ensuring data integrity and availability for recovery purposes. o Test and validate backup and recovery procedures to ensure they meet business continuity requirements. Storage Virtualization: o Configure and manage storage virtualization solutions such as IBM SVC (SAN Volume Controller) to optimize storage utilization and performance. o Implement storage tiering and data migration strategies to ensure the efficient use of storage resources. Tape Library Management: o Administer the SL500 Tape Library, including tape inventory management, tape rotation, and troubleshooting tape drive and library issues. o Coordinate offsite storage and retrieval of backup tapes as part of disaster recovery planning. Performance Monitoring and Optimization: o Monitor storage performance metrics and identify areas for improvement. o Optimize storage configurations and implement performance tuning measures to enhance system performance and efficiency. Storage Security and Compliance: o Implement and maintain storage security measures, including access controls, encryption, and data masking. o Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry best practices for storage security and privacy. Documentation and Reporting: o Maintain comprehensive documentation of storage configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. o Generate regular reports on storage capacity, performance, and utilization for management and audit purposes.
Requirements
Requirements: o Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. o 4-6 years of experience in storage administration, with expertise in NetApp, IBM SVC, and backup solutions like Veritas Appliance for NetBackup. o Proficiency in configuring and managing tape libraries, such as the SL500 Tape Library. o Experience with storage virtualization technologies and storage tiering strategies. o Strong understanding of storage networking concepts and protocols (SAN/NAS). o Familiarity with disaster recovery planning and implementation. o Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve storage-related issues. o Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. o Relevant certifications in storage administration (e.g., NetApp Certified Data Administrator, IBM Certified Specialist - Storage Solutions) are preferred.
