This position is responsible for providing general and specialized direct and indirect patient care through the application of evidence-based nursing procedures and practices to patients of all ages on assigned nursing unit. This position is also responsible for demonstrating competency in the behavioural, growth, development and psychosocial needs of patients being treated.Job Summary: Primary Duties:
Performs accurate and complete admission assessments
Monitors and documents the patients condition and the effectiveness of care and/or interventions
Establishes and implements a care plan based on sound nursing theory, scientific principles, professional judgment and individual patient needs
Evaluates and updates the patients plan of care to facilitate the achievement of planned and expected outcomes
Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing protocol
Assesses for and plans the educational needs of the patient
Provides teaching and educational material to patients and/or families, which may include diagnosis, tests and procedures, safe and proper use of equipment, use of medications, injury prevention and nutritional needs
Monitors and resolves customer service issues and provides feedback regarding satisfaction results to Nursing Leadership
Maintains confidentiality regarding patients and families
Interacts with patients, families and other visitors in a courteous, helpful manner
Facilitates the incorporation of patient safety and Magnet principles into clinical nursing care
Participates in clinical nursing research and supports Hospital research initiatives
Keeps abreast of best practice information for nursing profession

Educational/Professional Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Nursing or equivalent qualification (minimum three (3) year curriculum) in Nursing from an accredited program is required OR Associate Degree Nurses from North America with evidence of passing the National exam is required (USA: NCLEX RN & Canada: Licensing Exam)
Minimum of two (2) years post graduate experience in appropriate setting is required
Valid and current national license is required
BLS is required
ACLS, PALS relevant to area of specialty is preferred
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
