A Specialist Urban Designer is one of the core team member of the UDS with an all-encompassing skill set to be able to develop urban design/urban planning schemes based on his professional and academic knowledge and produce a substantial urban design or master-planning scheme.
He/she shall be able to articulate and communicate his/her ideas for discussion well through work sessions, presentations, forum and other means of collaborative engagement
He/she should have the aptitude to understand the myriad variety of urban design project types in the organization and be able to jointly develop a project brief together with the project manager to achieve the desired goals and objectives.
He/she shall have a fundamental understanding of Abu Dhabi city, be able to comprehend the established rules and regulations and most importantly, able to develop a design scheme that is suitable for the needs of the project brief/city.
He/she has an understanding the works and roles of other disciplines required in developing an urban design scheme/project and be able to work/coordinate and jointly develop a viable proposal.
He/she shall be able to partake or lead a generic urban design, architectural design or master-planning project from project inception to handover.
He/she shall have adequate software skills as mentioned in the list, necessary to perform the tasks given in conveying ideas, production of presentation, reports or any form of design outputs.
He/she shall be able to a certain extent, coordinate works, facilitate work groups when necessary, ensure process, and establish workflow to achieve the desired output. This will involve fulfilling the role of a design manager and coordinate all design efforts that will encompass shared role of project management, design management, resource management, and assist the project manager throughout the lifespan of the project.
