Job Description

:
  • Provides comprehensive and diligent neurosurgical care to all assigned patients including pre- and post-operative care and such neurosurgical procedures as are within incumbent\'s competence.
  • Performs professional duties at the OPD at which outpatient neurosurgical care is to be rendered to patients.
  • Provides consultation services to physicians and other surgeons and
  • Assumes after-hours responsibility for the care of neurosurgical cases and makes daily rounds for those hospitalized.
  • Refers to, or consults with, other neurosurgeons on those cases that require more specialized diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
  • Adheres to the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Department and assures that work performed is in keeping with the established standards of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals.
  • Consults with the anesthesiologist on the choice of anesthesia to be used.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of all cases.
  • Participates in and contributes to in-service activities such as lectures, conferences and rounds.
  • Keeps confidentiality of the patient\'s disease.
  • Keeps a high standard in the neurosurgical field by attending meetings of neurosurgery, reviewing specialized journals and updated literature and keeps a high medical and ethical standard as required by the NMCSH, Dubai rules and regulations.
  • Participates and contributes to all the quality assurance activities of the service (e.g. monthly mortality and morbidity conference, peer review, audit and chart review).

Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an approved medical school
  • Plus, one year of internship and at least four years of an approved residency in neurosurgery in an approved training program.
  • At least three years of experience in all fields of neurosurgery including traumatic neurosurgery.
  • The neurosurgeon must have the Certificate of the American Board of Neurosurgery or equivalent certificate, e.g. the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Neurosurgery or other equivalent certificate.
  • Current license in country of origin with Specialist Neurosurgeon DOH license to practice in Dubai, U.A.E.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of medical ethics, with particular reference to the obligation to maintain the confidentiality of his work; personality which inspires confidence and trust in his patients; and adhere to Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Organization.
  • Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients & families.
