Job Description

:The post holder will work collaboratively with other team members, uphold and live the NMC Nursing Strategy in order to provide safe and outstanding care to their patient, and the patient's bystanders all the time, every time.Responsibilities:These must be upheld in accordance with the UAE Code of Conduct, Scope of Practice and licensure as per the regulator.The post holder will:

Education and Training:
  • Ensure relevant training and competency is undertaken to deliver care safely
  • Maintain up-to-date mandatory training requirements.
  • Follow and comply with the NMC Nurse Competency Matrix / Framework, relevant to their role profile.
  • Be willing to learn new clinical skills and actively contribute to the learning culture through attendance of journal clubs and professional development programs.
  • Support and supervise pre-registration and new nurses and other health care workers when required.
  • Participate in teaching, mentorship and preceptorship when required.
  • Participate in clinical supervision of student nurses, newly graduated nurses, newly hired experienced nurses, return to practice nurses and nurses undergoing cross-training or upskilling.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement Plans when required.
  • Share knowledge and skill with others, to improve patient care and services.
  • Ensure they are skilled, trained and competent before using any medical device.
  • Involve patients in their own healthcare and recovery through education, awareness and positive reinforcement.
Nurse In Charge will:
  • Ensure and oversee the care that is delivered to all patients in the unit is safe, appropriate and effective.
  • Determine nursing interventions based on assessment data.
  • Prioritizes identified needs.
  • Implement nursing actions and evaluates patient outcomes.
  • Develops or revises the plan of care
  • Deliver identified patient needs.
  • Co-ordinate the overall clinical activities of the unit when assigned to the charge nurse role.
  • Collaborate with the Nursing Supervisor on staffing for a particular shift.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate clinical programs.
  • Evaluate the ability of the patient and the patient's bystanders to understand and participate in decisions about their care.
  • Facilitate patient education.
  • Maintain accurate and real-time clinical records.
  • Perform advanced or specialized nursing skills competently.
  • Maintain current knowledge of clinical nursing practice.
  • Act as a clinical resource for staff within the department/unit.
  • Communicate and consult with other health care disciplines.
  • Represent nursing at multidisciplinary rounds.
  • Perform essential life support as per regulatory requirements and scope such as but not limited to Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation etc.
  • Participate in the development of standards, procedures and protocols.
  • Facilitate evidence-based practice.
  • Promote change in nursing practice when required.
  • Take a proactive role under the guidance of Nursing Management/Nursing Education in training, education and CQI activities of nursing staff.
  • Promote a safe learning environment.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform other professional duties as may be assigned within his/her scope and ability.
The Specialist Clinical Educator will-
  • Have oversight relating to nursing/midwifery practice within specialist area of experience and specialist certification across the NMC Network.
  • Conduct multiple specialist clinical oversight visits (as per TOR) to facilities across the network, develop and lead educational action plans resulting from such visits and escalate observations and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the nursing/midwifery teams with direct patient care across the NMC network to provide clinical expertise, consultations, competency assessment and support in area(s) of specialization, aligning to Scope of Practice and Licensure.
  • Conduct training/learning needs analysis using various data points to establish developmental and educational requirements of nursing/midwifery staff across the network.
  • Assess, plan, design, develop, implement, coordinate, monitor and evaluate nursing evidence-based practice educational programs within MPTC and across the NMC network, adhering to accreditation standards whilst measuring patient outcome.
  • Demonstrate expert skill in adult learning methodologies, group dynamics, curriculum development, facilitation strategies and reflective practice.
  • Perform consistent and systematic review of educational programs, ensuring that nursing knowledge and skills are consistent with patient needs.
  • Uphold regulatory and accreditation requirements for all educational programs.
  • Lead and coordinate the development of competencies and the competency platform across the NMC network.
  • As a Nurse Planner, uphold the accreditation criteria of the American Nurses Credentialing Centre (ANCC) and support certification of MPTC.
  • As an AHA/AAP Life Support Instructor, uphold the certification criteria of the AHA and support the AHA Training Centre Coordinator within MPTC.
  • Coordinate, facilitate and document clinical in-situ simulation emergency drills across the network.
  • Support and uphold the NMC Nursing Midwifery Education Strategy
  • Support internal and external stakeholder engagement, whilst maintaining a positive working environment.
  • Maintain self-development, licensure and self CPD in relation to education, practices, simulation and clinical area of specialization.
  • Act as role models, leaders, mentors, and guides to support the hospital-based nurse educators as required.
  • Maintain regular activity reports and have oversight of the NMC Nursing Midwifery Educator Database / Dashboard.
  • Collaborate and support the hospital-based nurse educators in relation to nursing students, transition to practice nurses/midwives, gap in practice nurses/midwives and nursing/midwifery interns.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team members of service lines and specialized committees relevant to the clinical area of specialization.
Qualifications:Essential: the post holder must
  • Have evidenced experience in managing teams.
  • Be able to influence and implement change when necessary.
  • Be able to make decisions and communicate effectively.
  • Have an appropriate license to work as a registered nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority with all the qualifications and experience these mandates.
  • Manage their own professional re-licensure.
  • Have valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card.
  • Be willing to work across departments when necessary.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written)
  • Previous experience as a nurse educator within the specialist field.
DESIRABLE: The post holder should have:
  • Hold specialist certification/qualification in field of practice.
  • Evidenced ability to work as part of an inter-professional team
  • Organizational and administrative skills with which to use the electronic medical record platform for clinical documentation
  • Be able to communicate effectively in Arabic
