Responsible for assessment and reassessment of patients.
Conducts daily rounds to patients in the hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and the Nursery; performs general or special examinations and other procedures covering the full scope of the field of neonatology. Orders laboratory, radiological examinations, determines diagnosis, prescribes medications, advice nursing and dietary care as necessary and applies such preventive measures as required.
Provides in-patient care to the newborn and attends difficult delivery or cesarean section deliveries.
Offers consultation/referral services to the in-patient services in his area of expertise.
Works with patients throughout the entire process starting from consultation to treatment plan.
Serves as an expert in neonatology providing consultative services to other Medical Services.
Provides on-call emergency coverage for neonatal emergencies as per duty roster.
Monitors clinical and other established indicators to ensure ongoing quality assurance.
Reviews journals, texts or periodicals in order to update latest techniques, procedures, drugs and therapy.
Involved in development of international level guidelines to standardize and improve quality of service provided.
Follows standard policies and procedures as required by DOH, JCI, ISO, OSHMS and other regulatory bodies.
Participates in scheduled in-service training programs, CMEs, divisional teaching activities, the regular physicians' conference or other committees as requested.
Participate in improvement initiates within the department
Handle complaints in an amicable manner when necessary
Foster interdepartmental liaison in order to ensure maintenance of established level of Service Agreements.
Aware of hospital fire policy and emergency procedures.
Assist the senior staff in developing best practice guidelines protocols
Documents all care provided and education/information given to patients within their medical health record, as per professional and practice standards / protocols.

Qualifications:Graduation from an approved medical school plus one year of internship and three years of residency; certification of higher professional education recognized by the Department of Health Authority of Abu Dhabi (DOH): American Board of Neonatology or CCT or Member of the Royal College of Physicians (or its equivalent).
