Sous Chef

Job Summary:



The Sous Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef to manage daily kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and service. You will play a crucial role in leading the kitchen team, maintaining a smooth and efficient workflow, and contributing to the development of innovative menu offerings.

Responsibilities:



Kitchen Management:

Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating. Ensure adherence to all food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP). Manage inventory, ordering, and stock control to minimize waste and maximize efficiency. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment. Supervise and train kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment. Schedule and manage kitchen staff effectively.

Culinary Excellence:

Prepare and cook dishes according to established recipes and standards, ensuring consistent quality and presentation. Assist in menu development, contributing creative ideas and innovative techniques. Maintain a thorough understanding of culinary trends and techniques. Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented to the highest standards. Oversee quality control of all food products.

Leadership and Teamwork:

Lead and motivate the kitchen team, providing guidance and support. Effectively communicate with all kitchen and service staff. Resolve any issues or challenges that arise in the kitchen promptly and efficiently. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment. Assist in training and development of junior kitchen staff.

Operational Efficiency:

Monitor and control food costs. Ensure efficient use of resources and equipment. Maintain accurate records of food production and inventory. Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless service.

Qualifications:



Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a high-volume restaurant environment, preferably with experience in beachfront or resort settings. Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety, and hygiene standards. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment. A passion for food and a commitment to culinary excellence. Culinary degree or diploma preferred. Experience with Mediterranean or seafood cuisine is a plus. Experience in the UAE is a plus.
