Sous Chef

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic sous chef to assist our head chef in leading our kitchen team. The sous chef will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring the quality and presentation of meals meets the highest standards, and assisting in menu planning and development.

Responsibilities:

1. Kitchen Management: Assist the head chef in supervising and coordinating the activities of kitchen personnel to ensure efficient and profitable food service operations.

2. Food Preparation: Help in preparing and cooking menu items according to recipes and quality standards, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation.

3. Menu Planning: Collaborate with the head chef in developing new dishes and seasonal menus, considering factors such as ingredient availability and cost.

4. Quality Control: Ensure that all food products adhere to the company's quality and freshness standards, conducting regular inspections and evaluations.

5. Staff Training: Train and mentor kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques, safety procedures, and kitchen equipment operation.

6. Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels of food and kitchen supplies, placing orders as needed to maintain adequate stock levels.

7. Sanitation Standards: Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations in the kitchen area, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

8. Budgeting: Assist in controlling food and labor costs by optimizing resource allocation and minimizing waste.

Requirements:

- Proven experience as a sous chef or senior line cook in a high-volume kitchen environment.

- In-depth knowledge of kitchen operations and cooking techniques, including baking and pastry.

- Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to motivate and supervise kitchen staff.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

- Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, as needed.

- Culinary degree or equivalent certification is a plus.
