Job Description

:
  • Prepare exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct sonography examinations in accordance with
infectious disease, sterilization, and patient safety protocols, policies, and procedures.
Assume responsibility for the safety of the patient during the sonography examination.
Review patient medical history and supporting clinical information.
Ensure the sonography examination order is complete, contains relevant clinical information, and meets the
standard for medical necessity.
Evaluate any contraindications, insufficient patient preparation, and the patient's inability or unwillingness to
tolerate the examination or associated procedures.
Communicate with the patient in a manner appropriate to the patient's ability to understand.
Use proper patient positioning tools, devices, equipment adjustment, and ergonomically correct scanning
techniques to ensure patient comfort and safety, and to prevent compromised data acquisition and
musculoskeletal injury to the sonographer.
Conduct patient clinical assessment and perform the sonography examination ordered by the supervising
physician in accordance with professional and facility protocols. * Apply independent, professional, ethical judgment, and critical thinking to safely perform diagnostic sonographyprocedures.
Apply independent, professional, and ethical judgment in the sonography examination to ensure that
appropriate anatomical, pathological, and clinical conditions are accurately captured in the examination images.
As necessary, acquire additional images to facilitate optimum diagnostic results for the interpreting physician.
Identify and document any limitations to the sonography examination.
Review examination images, synthesize sonography examination results, and prepare the preliminary findings.
Except as authorized by written facility policies and procedures, refer specific diagnostic, treatment or prognosis
questions to the appropriate physician or healthcare professional.
Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with privacy laws and facility policies, and
procedures.
Adhere to applicable professional and ethical standards.
Provide patient services consistent with the Scope of Practice and Clinical Standards for the Diagnostic
Sonographer.
Perform advanced sonography services or other tasks delegated by the supervising physician, consistent with
education, training, and facility protocols, policies, and procedures. * Provide preliminary report of sonography examination for use by the interpreting physician.Assist with the daily operation of the sonography facility
Perform quality control procedures to ensure that the ultrasound equipment operates at optimal levels.
Perform quality control procedures to determine that ultrasound equipment operates at optimal levels to
ensure patient safety.
Exercise responsibility for the preventive maintenance program for ultrasound equipment.
Document any incidental findings that may impact patient safety or patient care and provide that information
to the interpreting physician. * GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Work in all shifts as scheduled by the Head of Department.
Strictly adheres to organization's regulations and policies especially those related to infection control, patient
safety, OSHAD, DOH, JCI and ISO.
Supports Continuous Quality Improvement and participates and contributes to all the quality assurance
activities of the service.
Participates and contributes in scheduled in-service training programs.
Exercises effective interpersonal skills in dealings with department staff, associates and Management.
Maintains confidentiality as per the agreement signed.
Demonstrates the ability to listen to others in promoting effective communication.
Develops thorough understanding of policies and procedures of the hospital and demonstrates respect for
them.
Carries out other duties when requested by the Head of department.
General OSH Responsibilities, Authority and accountabilities of the position includes:
Familiarize themselves and comply with all OSH and Infection Control policies, standards and
procedures that are relevant for their workplace
Work in accordance with the documented occupational, safety and health procedures and * instructions, specific responsibilities defined in individual procedures and instructions.Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems and follow safe working
procedures
Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
Not willfully or recklessly endanger anyone's health and safety. Take reasonable care for the health
and safety of persons that may be affected by the employee's acts or omissions at the workplace.
Assist with the preparation of risk assessments
Attend applicable departmental safety training and follow OSHMS policies and procedures.
Take reasonable care of their own health and safety
Cooperate with their employer with respect to any action taken by the employer to comply with
OSHMS requirements.
Notify supervisor or Department Safety facilitator of any hazards, health and safety mishaps or
incidents within or outside their area of work.Responsibilities:

  • College Degree in Sonology/ ultra sound or its equivalent.
Current license in the country of origin, with DOH License to practice in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Minimum three years experience in the Radiology department.
The ability to apply technical skills, together with a demonstrable knowledge of and interest in sciences, such as
anatomy, physiology and physics;
Self-motivation and the ability to work under pressure;
Excellent command of oral and written English. Arabic language advantageous/desirable but not essential.
Proficient technology application skills; Basic MS Office (Word, Excel, & Power point) MS Outlook & Internet
explorer skills.

Confidence in dealing with stressful situations;
