A Software Sales Engineer will combine technical knowledge with sales skills. The balance depends on the level of technical knowledge and understanding needed to sell the product and respond to clients' queries.
Technical sales engineers are a key point of contact for clients and provide both pre- and after-sales advice. They liaise regularly with other members of the sales team. The sales engineer should report to the business development manager.
Responsibilities
Experience in sales of Software
Searching for new clients who could benefit from the product and services
Travelling to visit potential clients
Establishing new, and maintaining existing, relationships with customers and developing long-term relationships with clients; Persuading clients that a product or service will best satisfy their needs
Managing and interpreting customer requirements
Negotiating and closing sales by agreeing terms and conditions
Meeting regular sales targets
Providing pre-sales technical assistance and product education
Recording and maintaining client contact data
