As a Sofa Carpenter, your role is to construct, assemble, and repair various types of sofas and seating furniture. You will work with different materials, such as wood, upholstery fabrics, foam, and springs, to create high-quality and visually appealing sofas. Your craftsmanship and attention to detail will contribute to the overall comfort and aesthetics of the finished products. Key Responsibilities: Read and interpret furniture blueprints, design plans, or customer specifications to determine the required dimensions, materials, and construction methods for the sofa. Select and prepare materials, including wood, upholstery fabrics, foam, springs, and other necessary components, for sofa construction. Use woodworking tools, such as saws, drills, routers, and sanders, to cut, shape, and assemble wooden frames, legs, arms, and other structural components of the sofa. Measure, cut, and shape foam or padding materials to provide comfortable cushioning and support for the sofa. Install springs, webbing, or other suspension systems to ensure proper weight distribution and resilience of the sofa seats. Inspect and test completed sofas for quality and functionality, making any necessary adjustments or repairs. Collaborate with designers, upholsterers, and other furniture craftsmen to ensure the accurate execution of design concepts and specifications. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage and maintenance of tools and equipment. Stay updated on industry trends, new materials, and techniques related to sofa construction, and incorporate them into the production process as appropriate. Requirements: - Proven experience as a Sofa Carpenter or Furniture Carpenter, with a focus on sofa construction. - Proficient in working with woodworking tools and equipment, such as saws, drills, routers, and sanders. - Strong knowledge of different types of wood, upholstery fabrics, foam, springs, and other materials used in sofa construction. - Familiarity with furniture design principles, construction techniques, and assembly processes. - Attention to detail and the ability to work with precision to ensure high-quality craftsmanship. - Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues during the construction process. - Ability to read and interpret furniture blueprints, design plans, or customer specifications. - Good physical stamina and the ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting and maneuvering heavy sofa components. - Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, designers, and other stakeholders. - Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines. - Commitment to safety protocols and practices in the workshop. - Relevant vocational or technical training in carpentry or furniture making is preferred.
