The SMT Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) equipment. This role involves ensuring the accurate and efficient assembly of electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs). The SMT Operator works under the supervision of the SMT Line Leader to meet production schedules and maintain high-quality standards. Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Equipment Setup and Operation Set up SMT equipment, including pick-and-place machines, screen printers, reflow ovens, and conveyors, according to production schedules and work instructions. Load components into feeders and place them in the appropriate positions on the SMT equipment. Operate SMT machines to assemble electronic components onto PCBs accurately and efficiently. Adjust machine settings and perform test runs to ensure proper operation and alignment. Quality Control Perform in-process inspections and quality checks to ensure products meet specifications. Identify and report any quality issues to the SMT Line Leader or quality assurance team. Process Monitoring and Optimization Monitor SMT production processes to ensure consistent performance and adherence to standards. Make real-time adjustments to machine parameters to optimize throughput and yield. Collaborate with the SMT Line Leader and engineering team to implement process improvements. Document and report any process deviations or equipment malfunctions. Maintenance and Troubleshooting Perform routine maintenance on SMT equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime. Troubleshoot and resolve minor equipment issues, such as feeder jams or alignment problems. Manage the handling and storage of SMT components and materials. Ensure the availability of required components for production runs. Follow proper inventory control procedures to prevent shortages or excesses. Handle materials in accordance with ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protection guidelines. Documentation and Reporting Maintain accurate production records, including machine settings, component usage, and quality data. Prepare and submit daily production reports to the SMT Line Leader. Document any deviations from standard operating procedures (SOPs) and report them to the appropriate personnel. Assist in the creation and revision of work instructions and process documentation. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification or associate degree in electronics, manufacturing, equipment setup, operation, and maintenance is preferred. Experience operating SMT equipment in a manufacturing environment. Experience in the microelectronics industry is preferred. Familiarity with IPC-A-610 standards for electronic assemblies is advantageous. Seniority level
