The Fire and Safety Site Engineer is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the implementation of fire safety protocols at a construction site, facility, or industrial plant. They must monitor, assess, and ensure the safety of workers, contractors, and visitors, in compliance with all fire safety laws, regulations, and company policies. This role involves performing risk assessments, providing safety training, conducting regular site inspections, and managing emergency preparedness and response procedures.
• Develop, implement, and maintain fire safety plans and procedures for the site.
• Ensure all fire safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, sprinklers, alarms, and suppression systems, are in place, maintained, and functional.
• Ensure fire exits, escape routes, and emergency lighting are clear and accessible.
• Prepare and submit safety reports and audits, ensuring accurate documentation of all fire and safety activities.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fire safety regulations and implement necessary changes to maintain compliance.
• Conduct fire safety training sessions for site workers, management, and contractors.
• Ensure all employees are familiar with fire emergency procedures, evacuation plans, and the use of fire safety equipment.
• Document incidents and accidents related to fire safety and prepare detailed reports for management and regulatory bodies.
• Site Inspections and Audits:
• Regularly inspect the site to assess fire risks and recommend corrective actions to mitigate hazards.
• Conduct audits of fire safety systems, equipment, and practices to ensure operational efficiency.
• Monitor and oversee contractors' adherence to fire safety regulations on-site.
• Work closely with other engineers, contractors, and the safety team to integrate fire safety into all phases of project development and operations.
• Provide technical advice and recommendations to management regarding fire safety improvements.
Experience:
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fire safety engineering, safety management, or related fields.
Skills:
• Strong knowledge of fire safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Proficiency in fire safety equipment and systems, such as fire alarms, extinguishers, sprinklers, and emergency systems.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with site safety management software is an advantage.
• Must be able to work in a variety of environments, including construction sites, industrial facilities, and offices.
