We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Signage Project Engineer to join our team. As a Signage Project Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the entire signage aspect of wayfinding projects. Your primary duties will include preparing signage Bills of Quantities (BOQs), creating designs as per a approved signage manual, via a team of designers, submitting material submittals, supervising the manufacturing, create Gantt charts for manufacturing and logistics, oversee the shipment of signage, monitoring the installation of signs by semi-skilled workers, Additionally, you will lead a team of site supervisors and monitor the installation process and coordinate with consultants and contractors for installation. Finally, you will be responsible for making RFIs (Request for Inspections) to certify the signage and submitting invoices for payment to the contractor's finance team. This is a critical role that requires strong technical expertise, project management skills, and effective communication abilities.
• Signage BOQ Preparation, Reconciliation & Analysis:
• Collaborate with project stakeholders to understand wayfinding requirements and develop comprehensive signage Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of the BOQs, considering all required sign types, sizes, materials, quantities, and installation specifications.
• Conduct regular reviews and updates to the BOQs based on project scope changes or other factors.
• Signage Design Understanding and Cost Re-engineering:
• Create detailed sign designs that align with project requirements, architectural standards, and local regulations and approved design booklet.
• Utilize software tools and graphic design techniques to produce accurate and visually appealing sign layouts.
• Coordinate with the design team and other stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals for the sign designs.
• Thoroughly understand and interpret signage designs provided by the design team, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the layout, materials, dimensions, and installation instructions.
• Evaluate potential cost-saving opportunities through cost re-engineering, proposing alternative materials, fabrication techniques, or processes without compromising quality or functionality.
• Material Submittals:
• Identify and source appropriate signage materials based on project specifications, quality standards, and budgetary constraints and even suggest cost controls.
• Prepare material submittals, including technical data sheets, samples, and product certifications, for review and approval by the client or project consultant.
• Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of approved signage materials to the project site.
• Gantt Chart Management:
• Develop and maintain detailed Gantt charts for manufacturing and logistics, ensuring a smooth flow of production and delivery of signage materials.
• Coordinate with manufacturing units, logistics teams, and suppliers to streamline processes and minimize delays.
• Monitor production progress and shipment status, taking proactive measures to address any bottlenecks or issues.
• Sign Installation Supervision and Team Leadership:
• Lead a team of site supervisors and semi-skilled workers involved in the installation of signs.
• Develop and implement an installation plan, including scheduling, sequencing, and coordination of resources.
• Monitor the installation of signs by semi-skilled workers, ensuring compliance with design drawings, installation guidelines, and safety regulations.
• Conduct regular site inspections to assess the quality of installed signs, identify any issues or deficiencies, and take corrective actions as necessary.
• Coordination and Communication:
• Collaborate with project consultants, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of signage with the overall wayfinding project.
• Act as the primary point of contact for all signage-related matters, addressing queries, clarifications, and technical issues throughout the project lifecycle.
• Participate in project meetings, provide progress reports, and contribute to decision-making processes.
• RFIs and Invoicing:
• Prepare RFIs (Request for Inspections) to schedule and coordinate necessary inspections and certifications for the signage.
• Liaise with inspection agencies or authorities to ensure timely certification of the signage.
• Prepare and submit invoices for payment to the contractor's finance team, ensuring accurate billing and documentation.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Signage Project Engineer or similar role, specifically working on wayfinding projects.
Strong knowledge of signage design principles, materials, fabrication techniques, and installation methods.
Proficiency in relevant software applications such as AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.
Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing project requirements.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Ability to lead and supervise semi-skilled workers during the installation process.
Familiarity with local signage regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
Flexibility to travel to project sites as required.
