This position plays a vital role in ensuring that shipping processes operate smoothly, efficiently, and accurately. The Shipping Officer will be responsible for managing and coordinating shipments, liaising with transport companies, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented with excellent organisational skills, thriving in a fast-paced environment.Key Responsibilities
Shipment Coordination: Collaborate with warehouse and logistics teams to oversee the preparation and execution of outbound shipments.
Documentation Management: Ensure all necessary shipping documents are accurately generated, managed, and archived in compliance with legal and company requirements.
Carrier Liaison: Communicate with transport providers to schedule pickups, negotiate terms, and resolve any shipping-related issues.
Compliance and Safety: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of shipping regulations and safety standards; ensure all shipping operations adhere to these laws.
Inventory Coordination: Work closely with inventory management to ensure accuracy and availability of products for shipping.
Performance Monitoring: Analyse shipping metrics to identify inefficiencies or areas for improvement, implementing actionable solutions.
Problem Solving: Address any shipping discrepancies, delays, or complaints promptly and effectively to minimize impact on operations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education: A Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a shipping or logistics role, ideally within a high-volume environment.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in shipping and logistics software systems and the MS Office Suite is essential.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective liaison with teams and transport providers.
Organisational Skills: Excellent organisational skills with an attention to detail to ensure accurate shipment documentation and scheduling.
Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address and resolve shipping issues effectively.
