Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior/Lead Engineer - Structural Integrity as part of our Digital Consulting - Intelligent Assets business.


This is a technical role based in our Abu Dhabi or Doha office which will contribute to the delivery of engineering excellence through:

Leads structural integrity engineering workscopes and consultancy services as directed by immediate supervisor. Serves as the primary discipline Lead engineer on projects. Uses technical knowledge to perform engineering assignments and produces engineering deliverables including complex problems, with minimal guidance and direction. Contributes to business development through regular engagement, relationship building and delivery to clients, as well as seeking opportunities to expand scope of work for Wood. May supervise a small work group consisting of technical/professional staff with some coaching from own supervisor or may provide advice and guidance in area of specialisation to others. Manage one or more small projects, with responsibility for cost, schedule, resources allocation and risk. Provide appropriate HSSE leadership including compliance with site and office safety requirements and technical/design safety requirements.

Risk-Based Inspection (RBI): Develop and implement RBI strategies to ensure the integrity and reliability of offshore structures. Inspection Planning & Execution: Plan, coordinate, and execute structural inspections with Operator and Inspection Contractor. Written Schemes of Examination (WSE): Prepare and manage WSE workpacks to ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards. Work Order Management: Oversee the creation, tracking, and completion of work orders related to structural integrity. Structural Inspection Review: Conduct thorough reviews of inspection reports and provide recommendations for corrective actions. Anomaly Management: Identify, assess, and manage structural anomalies to maintain the safety and functionality of offshore assets. Structural Analysis: Perform linear strength and fitness for service analyses to evaluate the structural integrity of offshore installations (preferred but not necessary).

Expected:


ISCED Level 6 Bachelors (minimum) or Level 7 Masters (preferred) Degree in engineering discipline, alternatively, tertiary level education combined with suitable industry experience can be used to demonstrate equivalence. Minimum 10 working in the on- and offshore petrochemical industry. Demonstrable experience of structural integrity projects Chartership or relevant professional engineer status accredited by a national or industry engineering institution preferred. Demonstratable CPD record showing examples of technical and consulting development.

Essential:


Proven experience working with or for operators in the offshore sector. Extensive knowledge of both floating and fixed offshore structures. Strong background in RBI, inspection planning, and execution. Proficiency in preparing and managing Written Schemes of Examination (WSE). Experience in work order management and structural inspection review. Ability to manage structural anomalies effectively.
Desirable:


Experience in structural analysis (linear strength, fitness for service). Experience in structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA).

Flexibility: Able to travel to global site locations at short notice (on- and offshore). Problem Solving: Good problem-solving skills using a logical and creative approach to solve complex engineering problems. Communication: Capable communicator able to present project results and group competencies to existing and potential clients. Commercial awareness: Under the direction of the Team Lead able to confidently manage day to day budgets and progress reporting on engineering projects. Mentoring: Act as a mentor for junior engineers. This involves formal training and informal assistance and guidance on a daily basis (in the office and on site).
