:Wood is currently recruiting Senior Technical Safety Engineer based in client office Dubai, UAE. Below are more details about the role.Responsibilities:
Produce Technical Safety engineering deliverables required for project execution and change management updates to existing assets
Assist Lead Technical Safety Engineer to assess risks qualitatively & quantitatively, to aid in engineering decisions
Assist Lead Technical Safety Engineer on Fire Protection and Safety Engineering issues for offshore and onshore installations
Provide input to DPE safety engineering philosophies, safety specifications, equipment specifications and monitor contractor/vendor compliance to these
Propose engineering solutions to safety issues on existing onshore/offshore installations or within Greenfield engineering design to improve safety
Deliver the safety studies required to ensure that projects and change proposals carried out for Assets are compliant with DPE requirements and regulatory obligations
Support Project Engineers to define philosophies and deliverable requirements for new projects
Evaluate proposals from contactors and vendors when necessary
Participate in safety assessments like Hazard Identification Studies (\'HAZID\'), Hazard and Operability Study (\'HAZOP\'), SIL/LOPA assessments etc.
Carry out in-house fire and gas radiation and dispersion calculations using DNV Phast and Softbits Flaresim
Assist in the coordination of external specialist consultants\' safety studies such as Quantitative Risk Assessment (\'QRA\'), Fire and Explosion Assessment (\'FERA\') and Emergency, Escape and Rescue Assessment (\'EERA\')
Carryout active and passive fire protection assessments including, but not limited to, fire protection philosophies, fire water demand schedules, fire water adequacy checks, hydraulic calculations using PIPENET spray/sprinkler/transient modules and have the ability to develop performance monitoring procedures for all SCE related equipment
Produce drawings and purchasing documentation for firefighting and safety related equipment
Carry out Hazardous Area Classification updates to drawings and schedules in accordance with IEC/EI standards
Qualifications:
A degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent technical Degree)
Experience Profile:Minimum 10 years\' experience in a similar positionCompetencies/Skills/Others:
Demonstrated subject knowledge and competence
Previous EPCI experience in offshore platform Greenfield and Brownfield design
Competent in the use of Flaresim, Phast and Pipenet software
Full understanding of international safety codes and standards and the theory behind them
Pragmatic and self-motivated; able to work under tight deadlines
Requirements:
The engineer must have excellent written and communication skills in English and in particular should have the ability to simplify technical discussions for non-technical teams
Proficient use of MS Excel
