Minimum Required Qualifications



Specialty

Design Review for concrete, steel, composite, post tension, high rise building, industrial building and marine structures

Conversant in International Codes

Good technical reporting skills in English language

Education

University Degree in Engineering / Post-graduate Degree



Training

International Standards like DBC, AISC, ACI, IBC etc. AutoCAD



Technical knowledge

Senior Structural Engineer



Conversant with relevant structural design software, techniques and codes (DBC,ADIBC,IBC, ACI, UBC, ASTM, AISC, etc.) and local circulars

Able to carry out structural design review for buildings including dynamic seismic design and designs pertaining to wind loads on cladding and building skins and facades according to pre-defined standard/code

Thorough knowledge of structural design of buildings, in particular those related to concrete, steel and composite materials

Knowledge of applicable standards of country of project is a plus

Able to interpret design drawing and documents

Licensed by Dubai Municipality (DM) for structural design review of unlimited height

Can professionally handle discussions with clients and authority in relation to the design review services provided

Computer skills in both MS Offices and Structural Engineering software

Experience

Senior Structural Engineer: minimum 15 years experience in Structural Engineering



Responsibilities / Authorities / Accountabilities



Primary Functions

The engineer shall perform various technical audits and control services including design review, specialised studies, expert studies, etc. pertaining to his field of competencies.

The engineer shall carry out within the frame of conformity assessment services, technical audit, consultancy services, outsourcing, due diligence, design review, etc. The most common mission of the engineer within Bureau Veritas currently being design appraisal.

Prepare Technical Reports

Prepare Value engineering studies

Attend meetings and discussion with client and authority

Technical Expertise

The structural engineer will have enough experience in the design of

concrete

and steel structures. Within the frame of the common mission of Bureau Veritas. Capable of evaluating the design with Team leader support & utilising 2D/ 3D available software

All type of Foundations/ Soil Excavations

All types of shoring system

Concrete structures, Precast- Pre-stressed

Post tensioned slabs

Steel structures, connections

Facade systems

Preparation of structural Proposals

Estimation of structural man days for projects.

As a guidance to the mission, shall be able to work on the following with support of the Team Leader:

Specifications: Concept study, Soil investigation Report, Seismic report, General specifications of the Installation, Relevant Owner's Specifications, Basic of design specification, Material general specifications,

Analysis: Foundation analysis, seismic analysis, wind analysis, superstructure analysis.

Calculations : Supporting calculation of member properties (composite sections, dummy members...), Summary of loads (each loading condition), Calculated resultant loads, Reactions, Loads on supporting members (e.g. piles, slings), Deflections, where relevant, Load combinations, Hand calculations, Stress calculations for parts not checked by computer (e.g. dummy members, connections others than API tubular connections, pile penetrations, etc...), Recalculations of overstressed parts, code checks

Site inspections: The Engineer must cover basic inspection for the construction civil works in order to familiarize with the working procedures for review of Material submittals, method statements, carry out quality assurance and quality control and issuing reports/ weekly reports/ monthly reports as per site requirements.

Liaises with client, designer and/or project manager

Manages (if required) design review phase of the project, as per scope of work and Bureau Veritas/client quality system

Executes reporting on tasks and cost building-up
