Overview:
The Senior RO Water Treatment Engineer will lead the design, construction, and operation of Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment plants, ensuring they meet project specifications, industry standards, and local regulations. This role involves overseeing all RO plant activities during the project lifecycle, from design review and approval to site supervision, quality control, and stakeholder engagement. The Senior Engineer will also manage technical issue resolution and ensure that all systems operate efficiently, sustainably, and in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
Design Review and Approval: Review and approve RO plant designs, ensuring full compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and local regulations. Optimize RO plant designs for operational efficiency, sustainability, and reliability.
Site Supervision and Project Management: Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of RO plant systems, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Manage all RO plant-related activities throughout the construction phase.
Coordination with Other Disciplines: Collaborate with civil, mechanical, and electrical engineers to integrate RO systems into the broader project infrastructure. Ensure RO systems align with the overall water utility network, including pipelines, reservoirs, and water management systems.
Quality Control and Compliance: Implement stringent quality control measures for all phases of RO plant construction, ensuring compliance with local environmental regulations and safety standards. Ensure systems meet expectations regarding water purity, energy efficiency, and environmental impact.
Technical Issue Resolution: Address technical challenges related to RO plant design, construction, and operation. Work with design teams, contractors, and suppliers to resolve issues and enhance system performance.
Client Liaison and Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for all RO-related matters. Ensure that client expectations are met, and provide regular updates to stakeholders on progress, technical issues, and resolutions.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of all RO plant activities, including design approvals, quality control reports, progress updates, and compliance certifications. Ensure documentation is ready for project closeout and handover.
Sustainability and Energy Efficiency: Promote and integrate energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable practices into the design and operation of RO water treatment plants, ensuring minimal environmental impact.
Competency Requirements:
Extensive experience in designing, constructing, and operating large-scale RO plants for complex infrastructure projects, particularly in international PMC contracts.
Strong technical knowledge of RO systems, water treatment technologies, and associated infrastructure.
Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and deliver successful project outcomes.
In-depth understanding of local and international water treatment regulations, environmental standards, and safety protocols.
Proficiency in engineering and project management software, with a systematic approach to managing large-scale water treatment projects.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
For BSc Holders: Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering from a recognized university, with over 15 years of relevant experience in RO plant engineering and supervision.
For MSc Holders: Master's degree in Chemical, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering from a recognized university, with over 12 years of experience, including significant work in RO plants.
Professional Membership: Membership in a recognized chartered institution (e.g., CIWEM, ICE, or equivalent) is preferred.
Language Skills: English is mandatory. Proficiency in Arabic is an advantage.
Professional Experience: A minimum of 12-15 years of experience in water treatment and RO plant engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior or managerial role. Proven experience managing large-scale RO plant projects in international or PMC contract environments.
Other Skills:
Excellent Communication: Ability to effectively manage interactions with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and technical teams.
Problem-Solving Skills: Expertise in addressing complex technical challenges and ensuring the smooth execution of RO plant projects.
