To act as Principal Investigator on research projects to develop proposals and conduct projects; with undertaking and supervision of day-to day tasks.
To provide scientific and strategic leadership with regards to marine ecology research and create an enabling environment for scientific research excellence.
To develop, write and submit proposals for major research/conservation grants and funding programs.
To manage the research project\'s budget as per the Center\'s Senior Director guidance.
To lead the production of high-quality scientific publications, research reports, and other communication material.
To develop collaborative research with YSWRR colleagues and to actively promote external contacts and networks for local and international collaborations.
To supervise the adequate use, schedule and maintenance of the experimental laboratory equipment and facilities of the Center.
To lead the marine ecology research program, supervise students and coordinate collaborating scientists.
To conduct research effectively by maintaining accurate records of sampling/experiments/analyses performed, conducting relevant literature searches, and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of all current methods of experimentation.
To develop and update guidelines and protocols for field and lab operations and procedures and to disseminate that information to research staff and students that work at the Center.
To develop and manage conservation and/or restoration projects with governmental and non-governmental agencies as well as other partners.
To actively contribute to the outreach goals and education programs of YSWRR.
To collaborate with SeaWorld Abu Dhabi zoological and education teams as required.
To contribute to the overall success of YSWRR projects by performing all other duties as assigned.
To be considered for the role, you will need to have:
PhD in Marine Sciences, Marine Ecology and Biology, or related fields.
At least 2 years of post-doctorate experience.
Demonstrated competency in scientific investigation of tropical and/or sub-tropical marine species and ecosystems: field and/or laboratory-based research studies.
Demonstrated success in publishing research results in refereed scientific journals and peer-reviewed publications.
Evidence of effective communication skills, particularly in communicating research findings to non-academic audiences.
Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
Excellent leadership, communication and teamwork abilities.
Ability to represent the Yas SeaWorld Research and Rescue Center to scientific community, general public, media, government agencies, and non governmental associations.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
