Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The post holder will work collaboratively with other team members, will uphold and live the NMC Nursing Strategy in order to provide safe and outstanding care to their patient, relatives, friends and significant others all the time, every time.

These must be upheld in accordance with the UAE NMC Code of Conduct and Scope of Practice (MoHaP). The post holder will:


• Always speak up if safety is a concern
• Treat all patients with kindness, respect and compassion.
• Recognize and work within the limits of their own competence
• Take responsibility for their own actions
• Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure patients receives the safest, most effective care possible.
• Perform additional duties when required

Education and Training:

• Ensure relevant training and competency is undertaken to deliver care safely
• Maintain up-to-date mandatory training requirements
• Follow the clinical pathways set out by the NMC Elsevier platform
• Follow and comply with the NMC Competency Framework, relevant to their role profile
• Be willing to learn new clinical skills
• Support and supervise pre-registration and new nurses and Health Care Workers when required
• Participate in teaching, mentorship and preceptorship programs when required
• Participate in clinical supervision
• Participate in Performance Improvement Plans when required
• Share knowledge and skill with others, in order to improve patient care and service
• Ensure they are skilled, trained and competent before using any medical device.
• Involve patients in their own healthcare and recovery through education, awareness and positive reinforcement.

• Maintain awareness of and comply with, the NMC Policies and Procedures
• Participate in all activities related to DoH & NMC Quality Improvement when required
• Understand the Regulatory standards and which of them apply to their daily working practice

• Report and notify all untoward/serious and near miss incidents to your direct line manager and then through the Sapphire/incident reporting system in a timely way

• Manage a deteriorating patient without delay, using the EWS 2 escalation process and emergency algorithm.

Registered Nurse - Emergency will:

• Develop and maintain a learning culture amongst nurses, particularly in the specialist field in which they work
• Be expert registered nurses with advanced education, training or certification in their specialized area of practice. Specialty practice may be defined by population, clinical setting a disease/medical subspecialty and type of care or type of problem.
• Be a role model and always seek to improve the safety and quality of care delivered to patients in the specialist field.
• Monitor human responses (of all age groups) who are under actual or potentially life-threatening conditions.
• Provide care to patients in ambulatory, urgent, and emergent care settings.
• Work in crises; they handle patients in trauma situations, suffering from injury or severe medical conditions by providing immediate intervention to prevent imminent severe damage and long-term disability or death.
• Asses and identify the patient's condition, and determine the case priority based on the patient`s needs assessment.
• Identify the best interventions to stabilize the patient and reduce pain intensity.
• Demonstrate sound decision-making in emergency scenarios based on patient conditions such as vital signs, patient presentation, and assessments.
• Assess and manage episodic illnesses, injuries, and acute exacerbations of chronic diseases.
• Provide ongoing assessments, including observation, physical examination, laboratory/test results, and patient response to procedural intervention
• Engage in patient prioritization, triage, differential diagnosis, patient management, monitoring, appropriate consultation, and coordinating care transfer.
• Understand aspects of diagnostic studies interpretation and the importance of non-pharmacological therapies.
• Facilitate safe patient admission, discharge, and transfer process.
• Maintains Basic and Advance Life Support certification
• Administer medications and monitor patients for any side effects and reactions
• Administer treatments such as IV fluids or blood products and monitor patients for any reactions
• Employ strategies to promote patients' health and a safe environment.
• Understand different diagnostic tests and laboratory exams.
• Injury and Poisonous cases Notification System (IPNS) coordination:
• Notify all non-fatal injuries and poisoning cases from the urgent care department to MRD for further submission to DOH through the e-notification system.
• Ensure all details are captured in the IPNS data form and submitted to the Medical Record Department in a timely manner.
• OSHMS activities:
• Comply with reasonable OSH instructions, policies and safe working procedures
• Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
• Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
• Not willfully or recklessly endanger anyone's health and safety.
• Assist with the preparation of risk assessments.
• Report OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues.
• Reduce, Reuse, Recycling of waste as much as possible.
• Attend all OSH trainings, awareness programs, and mock drills.
• Participates in the OSHMS audits and inspections, ensuring standards are maintained.
• ADHICS
• Adhere to information systems policies and procedures as required by Health Care Organization.
• Ensure that documentation in the health record reflects accuracy, integrity and authenticity.
• Follow security and privacy policies and procedures to the use of networks, including intranet and Internet.

• Report any possible breaches of confidentiality in accordance with organizational policies.
• Apply departmental and organizational data and information system security policies

• Demonstrate use of email, addressing, forwarding, attachments, netiquette

QUALIFICATION, LICENSURE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL SKILLS:

ESSENTIAL: The post holder •must:•

• Have an appropriate license to work as a nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority (DoH) with all the qualifications and experience this mandates.
• Have previous experience within the specialist field.
• Have completed the relevant competencies within the specialist field (see section below)
• Manage their own professional revalidation
• Have basic life support qualification (within the past 24 months)
• Have an active interest in the clinical field in which they are employed
• Be willing to work across departments when necessary
• Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written)

DESIRABLE: The post holder •should have• :


• Have a postgraduate qualification in the specialist field.
• Be able to communicate effectively in Arabic
