Oversee the production environment under his/her control to ensure daily production and quality goals are safely met for the team:
Actively monitor the shopfloor environment to ensure that safety standards, conditions, devices, and materials are in place and functional at all times.
Review daily production/shipping and receiving reports and goals with Supervisors and team.
Monitor production KPI\'s throughout shift as applicable and update reports as required.
Actively monitor product/production throughout the shift to ensure that quality standards are being maintained with minimal waste and rework.
Ensure that materials, supplies and tools needed to meet production/daily goals are available at all times to the team.
Ensure that all equipment is serviceable and that required pre-start, machine cleaning and maintenance tasks are conducted daily.
Key driver for cost efficiency in facility participating with financial budget and meeting or exceeding objectives.
Provide leadership, continuous training and performance management supervision:
Actively monitor employee compliance with all safety policies and procedures including proper techniques, product and documentation compliance, and immediate corrective intervention or action if standards are not met in all departments.
Actively engage assigned employees through direct interaction and communication in the production environment to support employee\'s needs, bolster performance, ensure succession availability for key positions, and maintain open lines of communication.
Ensure that employees receive required training/cross training for assigned tasks and provides remedial support as needed to improve understanding of safety requirements, production techniques, productivity goals and development.
Actively monitor and coach employees performance during production/operation shifts utilizing a balanced approach of praise and constructive corrective interaction.
Support Supervisors to improve assigned staff performance and/or procedural compliance through feedback for the administration and follow-up of formal performance management tools by the Supervisor as warranted.
Provide input and assist the supervisory team in identifying and developing assigned employees who demonstrate the desire and aptitude to advance into new positions and formal leadership roles.
Support Supervisors and employees through feedback on the completion of performance appraisal assessments of assigned employees.
Provide administrative supervision for assigned staff:
Coordinate with the Supervisors on staffing and scheduling requirements.
Review daily schedule and monitor staffing in relation to daily goals to determine if sufficient staffing levels are in place; temporary staff additions or reductions and full time employees workload balancing is required.
Ensure Supervisors conduct daily pre-production team meetings to communicate goals, safety reminders, and objectives to the team.
Balance workload in the department based on daily fluctuations in productivity or employees breaks.
Support human resources and company programs and policies.
Provide input and feedback to management team in support of continuous process improvement and lean manufacturing projects:
Provide feedback to management team on employee\'s resource needs, machine performance and any other issues effecting safety, quality, teamwork, and engagement goals.
Based on expertise and observations, (individual and team), make recommendations for improvements to procedures, techniques and/or other processes.
Participate in lean manufacturing projects as an initiator, team member, and through change management leadership when projects are developed and rolled out to the shop/warehouse floor.
Maintain a clean work area for safe and efficient operation, ensuring replenishment of supplies via Supervisors.
Cross-train into other positions and provides support to other teams or functions as needed.
Qualification:
Industrial engineering or equivalent, Production Qualified.
Solid Production Manager 10 years of experience.
15 years of overall professional experience
Solid experience in the production of composite component, assembly and LRU
Good experience with PLM tools and procut life cycle management using SAP
Supervisory/production concepts (ex. lean, kaizen, 5S, value stream mapping, etc.)
Operations Management.
Project Management.
Technical Competencies:
Technical writing skills.
Business acumen.
Document/report drafting skills.
Data management and PC skills.
Lean/Six Sigma.
Solid Production Manager experience
Solid experience in the production composite components, airframe assembly and LRU production.
Good experience with PLM tools and procut life cycle management using SAP
Supervisory/production concepts (ex. lean, kaizen, 5S, value stream mapping, etc.).
Hands-on working knowledge of Operations Management.
