Overview:

The Senior Principal Engineer - Instrumentation (Valve Specialist) will lead the engineering, specification, and technical evaluation of instrumentation valves for offshore oil and gas projects. This role includes the design and selection of valves such as API 6A, API 6D, choke valves, pressure safety valves (PSVs), and control valves. The position requires coordination with vendors, overseeing the entire lifecycle from specification to commissioning, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.

Responsibilities:

Lead the design, specification, and technical evaluation of instrumentation valves including API 6A, API 6D, choke valves, pressure safety valves (PSVs), and control valves.

Develop detailed valve specifications, data sheets, and requisitions for procurement, ensuring they meet project requirements.

Perform technical bid evaluations (TBE) and oversee vendor follow-up to ensure valve selection aligns with project standards and delivery timelines.

Conduct site surveys, prepare reports, and provide technical assistance during pre-commissioning and fabrication phases.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the correct integration of valve systems into project designs.

Ensure compliance with Qatar Gas (QG), Qatar Petroleum (QP), and other applicable regional and international standards for instrumentation valves.

Provide support in valve-related troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues during the project lifecycle.

Ensure that all deliverables align with project schedules, and review valve package documentation as required. Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering. Certifications / Specialization / IT Skills:

Specialization in Instrumentation Valves.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) for reporting and documentation. Years of Experience:

More than 10 years of experience in instrumentation valve engineering, particularly in the oil and gas sector. Technical Knowledge:

Strong expertise in the design and specification of instrumentation valves such as API 6A, API 6D, choke valves, pressure safety valves (PSVs), and control valves.

Experience in creating valve specifications, data sheets, requisitions, and conducting technical bid evaluations (TBE).

Valve Specialist Expertise: Demonstrated experience in the engineering and selection of complex valve systems, including API 6A, API 6D, PSVs, choke valves, and control valves, with a proven track record in managing valve-related engineering processes. Vendor Coordination and Technical Review: Strong experience in vendor follow-up, technical evaluation, and coordination, ensuring that valve procurement and integration align with project specifications and international standards (e.g., QG, QP).
