Job Title: Senior Navigation Communication Technician

Summary:
The Senior Navigation Communication Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of navigation and communication systems on vessels. This role involves ensuring that all equipment is functioning correctly and complies with regulatory standards. The technician will provide technical support, conduct system upgrades, and troubleshoot any issues related to navigation and communication equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Maintenance:
• Install, configure, and test navigation and communication systems on vessels.
• Perform regular maintenance and inspections of navigation and communication equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Conduct system upgrades and ensure compatibility with existing systems.
Troubleshooting and Repair:
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with navigation and communication systems.
• Repair or replace faulty equipment and components.
• Provide technical support to vessel crews and other stakeholders.
Sales and Business Development:
• Identify and pursue new sales opportunities for navigation products and solutions.
• Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve sales targets and expand the customer base.
• Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
Compliance and Safety:
• Ensure all navigation and communication systems comply with local, national, and international maritime regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Conduct safety checks and ensure systems are operating within safety guidelines.
Technical Documentation:
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including manuals, schematics, and maintenance logs.
• Update documentation to reflect system upgrades and changes.
• Provide detailed reports on system performance and any issues encountered.
Training and Support:
• Train vessel crews on the operation and basic troubleshooting of navigation and communication systems.
• Provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure effective use of equipment.
• Stay updated with the latest technological advancements and best practices in navigation and communication systems.
Project Management:
• Lead and manage projects related to the installation and upgrade of navigation and communication systems.
• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to procure necessary equipment and components.
• Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Qualifications:
Education:
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Marine Technology, or a related field.
Experience:
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing navigation and communication systems.
• Proven experience in working with a variety of navigation and communication equipment used on vessels.
Skills:
• Strong technical and troubleshooting skills.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software related to navigation and communication systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Certifications:
• Relevant certifications in electronics, telecommunications, or marine technology are preferred.
• Certifications from equipment manufacturers (e.g., Furuno, Raytheon, Garmin) are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and on board vessels.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Working Conditions:
• This role involves both on-site work aboard vessels and in-office tasks.
• Travel may be required to various locations and ports as part of the job.
