Senior Mechanical Engineer (supervision Consultant)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer with at least 14-18 years of professional experience at DUBAI. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of engineers and inspectors, having good knowledge of construction Codes / Regulations (DM / DDA / Trakhees) related to Mechanical works, overseeing various projects from conception to completion and ensuring their successful execution by the appointed Contractor adhering to specifications, drawings and within the stipulated timelines.

Having hands on experience and good knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing & Drainage, Fire Fighting, LPG systems is a must.

Responsibilities:

A. Experience in carrying out Building Services (Air-Conditioning, Drainage, Domestic water, Fire Protection, LPG etc) design to ASHRAE, CIBSE, NFPA, International and British Standards and Local municipality and Utility Authority regulations

B. Able to design, understand and sort the issues in MEP works independently. Design proficiencies in HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, smoke control and Building Automation systems

C. Validate design issues related to MEP and suggest alternative solutions.

D. Should know how to design and draft MEP drawings.

E. Calculations such as ESP, pump head and Heat load should be known.

F. Creating design plans, coordinating with architects and other engineers, ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations, managing project budgets and timelines, and troubleshooting mechanical issues during construction.

Supervise the overall project' execution and progress as per project schedule and approved plan related to Mechanical works.

Participate in kick-off meetings, with Consultant PM/RE, Client and Contractor to define and study project's details, project steps for site preparation and confirm the contractor's responsibilities in terms of labours, tools, work schedule, submittals and safety. Participate in progress meetings with Consultant PM/RE, Client and Contractor to evaluate progress and outstanding issues.

Participate in Technical & Coordination meetings with Consultant PM/RE, Contractor to resolve technical & coordination issues.

Monitoring the Mechanical works for conformance with the provisions of the contract documents and the procedures manual.

Reviewing, approving and processing Mechanical technical submittals.

Prepare preliminary answers for RFI's related to Mechanical works.

Coordinating and supervising the pre-installation work of selected Mechanical activities and operations.

Liaison with the necessary sub-consultants.

Reviewing the contractor's project record documents relevant to their discipline.

Assisting with the inspection or inspecting of completed works and monitoring the start-up, testing, commissioning and handover of the Mechanical works.

Prepare "sign off" package for completed Mechanical works with completed documentation for sign-off by Consultant PM / Resident Engineer

Perform all other duties given by Consultant PM/RE.

H.

Conduct inspections on the different on-going Mechanical works to ensure conformity with drawings & specifications. Overview site inspection, check and approve finished Mechanical works.

Ensure coordination between Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Architectural teams on site.

Review, check and provide observations to Consultant PM/RE on the contractor's engineering submittals / queries.

I.

Resolves specialty related mechanical engineering issues by applying accepted principles, codes, and standards.

J.

Review, check and provide observations to Consultant PM/RE on the contractor's work schedule in coordination with the planning engineer.

K.

Reviewing contractor's Mechanical change order proposals and preparing technical recommendations to Consultant PM/RE.

Assist with review off contractors claims related to Mechanical works and preparing technical recommendations for claims.

Review, check and provide observations to Consultant PM/RE of contractor's payment in coordination with Q.S.

Review and analyse contractor's monthly progress report, and prepare monthly progress report for final approval of Consultant PM/RE prior to issuance to Client.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering field from a recognized University.

The ideal candidate should have,

Experience of Mechanical design software -- Computer design package E-20, IES Design Suite, Hevacomp.

Understanding of British, American and International design standards

A good knowledge of Mechanical systems, products and materials.

Good knowledge of applicable Mechanical design and construction codes and possess excellent problem-solving skills as well as the ability to multitask and work well under pressure.

Have good communication skills in order to effectively collaborate and also be able to communicate effectively with the Supervision team and other stakeholders (Client / Main Contractor).

Ability to review and comment properly on necessary documentation.

Excellent understanding of specifications.

Good understanding of Authority requirements.

Complete project understanding in given discipline, from start to hand-over
