This role requires expertise in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection systems, and other mechanical aspects critical to high-rise buildings, as well as a proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and ensure project delivery within budget and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Design and Planning
• Lead the design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems for high-rise building projects, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other related mechanical systems.
• Review and interpret architectural, structural, and electrical drawings to ensure mechanical system designs integrate smoothly with the overall building design.
• Prepare detailed technical specifications, drawings, and reports for mechanical systems and ensure compliance with building codes, local regulations, and client requirements.
• Coordination and Management
• Coordinate and oversee the work of junior engineers, draftsmen, and consultants, ensuring that project timelines and quality standards are met.
• Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure all mechanical systems are efficiently integrated into the building.
• Manage interfaces between mechanical systems and other building systems to resolve any conflicts or design challenges.
• Technical Support and Troubleshooting
• Provide technical leadership in resolving complex engineering issues that arise during the design, construction, and commissioning phases of the project.
• Conduct regular site visits to assess the installation progress, quality control, and compliance with design specifications.
• Offer solutions for operational issues, improve system efficiencies, and identify opportunities for energy conservation.
• Project Management
• Support project managers in estimating mechanical system costs, preparing budgets, and tracking project expenses to ensure mechanical works are delivered on budget.
• Lead and participate in project meetings to monitor the progress of the mechanical works, resolve issues, and ensure that milestones are achieved.
• Ensure that mechanical systems are commissioned properly and operate as designed before final handover to the client.
• Quality Assurance and Compliance
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations, including local authority requirements for high-rise buildings.
• Monitor and enforce quality standards across all mechanical systems, including the installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
• Prepare and submit necessary documentation for approvals, such as system design calculations, performance data, and test reports.
• Continuous Improvement and Innovation
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering for high-rise buildings.
• Propose innovative solutions and improvements to optimize mechanical system performance, sustainability, and energy efficiency.
• Lead the implementation of BIM (Building Information Modeling) tools and technologies for improved design and coordination.

Key Skills and Qualifications

• Education :
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Experience :
• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a significant portion of that time working on high-rise building projects.
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in the design and installation of mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other related systems in high-rise buildings.
• Experience in managing mechanical works on large-scale commercial or residential high-rise projects.
• Expertise in using engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant tools for system modeling and simulation.
• Certifications :
• Professional Engineering (PE) License or equivalent is a plus.
• LEED accreditation or familiarity with sustainable building practices is preferred.
• Technical Skills :
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical codes and standards, such as ASHRAE, NFPA, and local building regulations.
• Familiarity with energy modeling, building performance analysis, and sustainable design strategies for high-rise buildings.
• Proficiency in building services systems integration, including BIM (Building Information Modeling).
• Leadership and Communication :
• Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers, designers, and contractors.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex technical concepts to clients, team members, and stakeholders.
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution abilities.
