Based in our Dubai office, you will work with a growing team of multidisciplinary specialists and stakeholders. You will also manage and strengthen the teams\' relationships with regulators by being the regulator\'s first point of contact, keeping everybody informed and protecting our most valuable asset - our customers.What You Will Be DoingOversight
Provide oversight and compliance advice to the UAE onsite team, ensuring risk management and mitigation policies are embraced and adequately addressed.
Review escalations from the first line of defence, approving new customer\'s applications and making sure necessary CDD is performed at all times., in line with the applicable policies.
Maintain our regulatory licence and applications in UAE, Regulatory liaison, reporting and filing,
Investigate alerts reported to Compliance and draft SARs/notifications to be provided to the regulator and local authorities.
Participate in the several ad hoc Group compliance projects as needed.
Investigate and where required, call out any major compliance concerns to Management, recommend remediation actions and improve existing processes accordingly.
Coordinate incident response and remediation efforts as needed.
Assess high-risk clients whether at onboarding, as part of regular reviews or during trigger events, delivering well-justified recommendations and ensuring these are being monitored accordingly.
Advisory & Governance
Lead all the audits around the Financial Crime Compliance program, be it internal or external audits and/or any audits driven by the Schemes.
Contribute to the development and the maintenance of policies, procedures and operating Memos, including ensuring they are up to date with all regulatory and international standard methodologies.
Develop compliance reporting and MI processes as per regulatory and governance requirements.
Develop internal reports to Senior Management (AML/CTF internal control report, periodic internal reports SARs, ongoing audits, etc).
Maintain awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats, investigating and assessing potential risks and taking appropriate steps to mitigate it.
Provide quick and precise answers to internal team inquiries as to internal Compliance framework applications.
Partner with key stakeholders to develop and implement standards, processes, programs, and best practices related to risk management.
Assist with business continuity planning and outsourcing requirements of Checkout MENA.

Monitoring & Risk Management
Contribute to updating AML/CTF risk classifications and assessing new products/activities risk exposure.
Understand the risk appetite and exposure of Checkout UAE in terms of AML/CTF and Fraud and create necessary frameworks to mitigate the relevant risks, establishing procedures for risk monitoring.
Ability to identify inefficiencies, see the bigger picture, challenge the current status quo and define scalable and sustainable processes.
Develop country specific risk assessments highlighting control gaps and develop relevant remediation plans.
Provide oversight and compliance advice to the UAE onsite team, ensuring risk management and mitigation policies are embraced and adequately addressed.
QualificationsAbout you
Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience in a previous Compliance senior role with robust knowledge on Compliance topics around KYC, AML/CFT, Sanctions, Screening etc.
Previous experience as appointed MLRO before CBUAE.
You are proficient in spoken and written English. Arabic would be a plus.
Knowledge and experience (preferably within Fintech and or payments compliance) in the UAE and Middle East markets.
Ideally you possess a specific certification related to AML/CFT compliance e.g ACFCS, CFE, ICA Diplomas, CAMS or any other certification associated with financial crime control or AML/CFT compliance.
Strong analytical skills with experience in problem solving and being able to implement and deliver solutions. Good organisational, partner management skills and willingness to expand technical knowledge in a broad range of projects.
Demonstrate clear sense of accountability in performing the role and a positive demeanour (can-do attitude and solution oriented mindset).
Ability to identify inefficiencies, see the bigger picture, challenge the status quo and define scalable and sustainable processes.
Well organised self-starter, able to prioritise quickly and meet deadlines even under pressure.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills while being able to work independently.
Team player with strong collaborative qualities, including previous experience of onboarding new joiners and building a team.
Willingness to learn continuously and keep up to date with the Payments industry and its regulatory landscape (national and international).
