We are seeking to appoint a passionate IB specialist to join our newly restructured Sixth Form team as a Senior Leader, coordinating the Careers Related pathway of our IB provision. The IBCP Coordinator is responsible for the development of the International Baccalaureate Career Related Programme at WIS, driving the delivery of the IBCP throughout Year12 and 13 and the promotion of the IBCP to students in Year 10 and 11. Reporting directly to the Director of IB, the IBCP Coordinator will be responsible for the welfare and academic counselling of students that choose the IBCP route. The role is also responsible for maintaining and developing the Reflective Project, Personal and Professional Skills and the Community Engagement programmes for IBCP students in line with the aims of WIS.Main Responsibilities.
Keep up to date with information from IBCP, including the IBCP Coordinator Programme Updates
Keep complete records of IBCP publications on file and distribute them as necessary to relevant staff members
Ensure that the WIS IBCP programme is being implemented and documented according to the handbook of procedures for the IBCP
Archive records of IBCP subject overviews, and scope and sequence documents
Lead the process of developing and/or reviewing the IBCP scope and sequence documents and/or unit plans
Liaise with the wider SLT and Parent Relations Executive to ensure that the schools promotional materials include accurate information about the IBCP
Identify and make recommendations on the availability of facilities and purchase of suitable resources to support the delivery of the IBCP
Ensure that the WIS IBCP programme is being delivered according to all of the IB standards and practices
Prepare the budget for the maintenance of the IBCP programme, if applicable, including training budget across the IB, across the Upper School
Organise internal moderation/standardisation of IBCP work according to IBCP assessment criteria
Investigate, evaluate, initiate and implement new IBCP courses with the Head of Sixth Form and Vice Principal Curriculum Strategy if appropriate.
Ensure that appropriate student records are maintained
Organise internal assessment and the moderation of internal assessment, where necessary, according to IBCP criteria
Organise the formal procedures in preparation for moderation and certification
In conjunction with the Head of Sixth Form, Exams Officer, Assistant Headteacher, Heads of Year organise the conduct of examinations, including mock examinations, speaking examinations and arrangements for visiting examiners this includes any career related focus qualification that may be offered
Ensure that all examinations are conducted as per the requirements of the Assessment Procedures and Conduct of Examination publications by the IB
Register students for IBCP examinations and career related study elements, in conjunction with the respective Curriculum Leaders, BTEC Coordinator and examinations officer.
Recommend subjects to be included in the IBCP programme, based on student needs and interests for the basis of options and timetabling
Be responsible for enrolment in the IBCP and promoting and marketing the IBCP to current and prospective students. This will include reviewing applications from external applicants, liaising with the admissions team and reviewing and making offers to current and external students.
Skills
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
honours degree and/or post-graduate qualification
Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development as a teacher and/or leader
Experience of developing others through mentoring/coaching
Experience leading teams
Leading Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement processes
Experience in mapping curriculum content and skill development
Proven track record in planning, implementing, and managing change
Leadership experience in at least two phases in an international school setting
Experience working in an international setting, with knowledge of DSIB inspection framework and UAE National Agenda
Ability to think and plan strategically to promote vision, ethos, and values
Strong understanding of pedagogy to achieve student progress
Ability to handle difficult situations with empathy and sensitivity
In-depth knowledge of the wider educational agenda, including current national policies and trends
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage professional relationships effectively
