Overview:
The Senior Landscape Architect will lead the design and implementation of landscape projects, ensuring they meet aesthetic, functional, and environmental standards. This role involves managing all aspects of landscape architecture, from concept development to on-site execution, ensuring quality, sustainability, and compliance with local regulations. The Senior Landscape Architect will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, engage with clients, and mentor junior architects to ensure successful project delivery.
Responsibilities:
Landscape Design Leadership: Lead the creation of detailed landscape designs, ensuring alignment with the project's aesthetic, functional, and environmental goals. Provide expert advice on material selection, plant species, and sustainable landscape elements.
Site Supervision and Project Management: Oversee the execution of landscape designs on-site, managing the construction phase from initial grading to final planting. Ensure all activities adhere to approved plans, timelines, and budgets.
Coordination with Multidisciplinary Teams: Collaborate with horticulturists, civil engineers, MEP engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate landscape elements with the broader project, ensuring a seamless design approach and resolving interdisciplinary conflicts.
Quality Control and Compliance: Implement and oversee quality control measures for landscape installations, including hardscapes, softscapes, and irrigation systems. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards.
Client Liaison and Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the main point of contact for landscape architecture matters, communicating clearly with clients and stakeholders, addressing concerns, and ensuring client expectations are met.
Technical Issue Resolution: Address technical challenges in landscape design and construction phases, working with the team to find and implement effective solutions.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of design documents, progress reports, and quality control measures, ensuring all necessary documentation is available for project closeout and handover.
Mentorship and Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of landscape architects, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. Ensure that junior staff receive guidance and development opportunities.
Competency Requirements:
Proven experience as a Senior Landscape Architect in large-scale infrastructure or landscape projects, with significant international PMC contract experience.
Strong expertise in landscape design, on-site supervision, and quality control, with an emphasis on sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Deep understanding of landscape architecture principles, including plant selection, irrigation systems, and their integration into large infrastructure projects.
Familiarity with local environmental regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp, along with project management tools.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
For BSc Holders: Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field from a recognized university, with over 15 years of relevant experience.
For MSc Holders: Master's degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field from a recognized university, with over 12 years of relevant experience.
Professional Membership: Membership in a recognized chartered institution related to landscape architecture (e.g., ASLA, LI, or equivalent).
Language Skills: Proficiency in English is mandatory.
Professional Experience: A minimum of 12-15 years of experience in landscape architecture, depending on educational background, with at least 5 years in a managerial role. Other Skills:
Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.
Strong problem-solving abilities and a structured approach to project management, ensuring efficient and effective task execution.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high-quality and sustainable landscape design standards.
