Overview: The Senior Irrigation Engineer is responsible for designing, overseeing, and optimizing irrigation systems for large-scale landscape projects. This role requires a deep understanding of irrigation technologies, water management practices, and local environmental regulations. The engineer will ensure that irrigation systems are efficient, sustainable, and meet all project requirements. Additionally, the Senior Irrigation Engineer will manage the installation, quality control, and performance assessments of the systems, working closely with other disciplines to ensure seamless integration into the overall project.
Responsibilities:
Irrigation System Design: Develop detailed irrigation system designs aligned with the project's landscaping needs, with a focus on water efficiency, sustainability, and long-term functionality. Ensure that designs meet relevant standards and are feasible within the project constraints.
Site Supervision and Project Management: Oversee the installation and commissioning of irrigation systems, ensuring timely completion, adherence to approved designs, and quality standards.
Coordination with Other Disciplines: Collaborate with landscape architects, civil engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate irrigation systems into the overall project design and construction processes.
Quality Control and Compliance: Implement rigorous quality control procedures to ensure the durability and functionality of irrigation systems. Guarantee compliance with local environmental regulations and water use standards.
Optimization and Efficiency: Regularly assess and optimize the performance of installed irrigation systems to improve water efficiency and reduce operational costs.
Technical Issue Resolution: Address and resolve any technical issues related to irrigation system design, installation, or operation, working with the project team to implement effective solutions.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of all irrigation-related activities, including design documents, quality control reports, and system performance assessments. Ensure all necessary documentation is completed for project closeout and handover.
Competency Requirements:
Proven experience as a Senior Irrigation Engineer in large-scale landscape projects, particularly within the context of international PMC contracts.
Extensive hands-on experience in irrigation system design, installation supervision, and quality control.
Strong understanding of irrigation technologies and water management practices.
In-depth knowledge of local environmental regulations and water use standards.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
For BSc Holders: Bachelor's degree in Agricultural, Civil, or Irrigation Engineering from a recognized university with over 15 years of relevant experience.
For MSc Holders: Master's degree in Agricultural, Civil, or Irrigation Engineering from a recognized university with over 12 years of relevant experience.
Professional Membership: Chartered membership in a recognized institution related to irrigation or water management (e.g., IA, ICE).
Professional Experience: 12-15 years of irrigation engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
Other Skills:
Excellent communication skills (listening, verbal & written) to interact effectively with stakeholders.
Strong organizational and project management skills, ensuring efficient execution of irrigation tasks.
