Overview:
The Senior Horticulturist will lead the design and implementation of horticultural projects, ensuring that plant species, planting strategies, and maintenance practices align with the project's aesthetic, functional, and environmental objectives. The role includes managing all horticultural activities, from planning to site execution and ongoing plant care, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and environmental regulations. The Senior Horticulturist will also collaborate with other disciplines, mentor team members, and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Horticultural Design and Planning: Lead the development of horticultural plans, ensuring the selection of plant species and strategies meet the project's aesthetic and environmental goals. Provide expertise on plant health, soil management, and sustainable practices.
Site Supervision and Project Management: Oversee the on-site implementation of horticultural designs, managing the entire process from soil preparation to planting and ongoing care. Ensure all activities adhere to timelines, budgets, and approved plans.
Coordination with Multidisciplinary Teams: Work closely with landscape architects, civil engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate horticultural elements into the broader project design, ensuring seamless collaboration across disciplines.
Quality Control and Compliance: Enforce rigorous quality control standards for horticultural installations, including plant material selection, planting techniques, and long-term maintenance. Ensure compliance with local environmental regulations and best practices.
Client Liaison and Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary contact for horticulture-related matters, maintaining open communication with clients, addressing concerns, and ensuring that all horticultural aspects of the project meet expectations.
Technical Issue Resolution: Address technical issues related to plant selection, soil quality, or irrigation during design and construction phases, working with the project team to implement solutions effectively.

Competency Requirements:
Proven experience as a Senior Horticulturist in large-scale horticultural or landscape projects, with significant experience in international PMC contracts.
Extensive hands-on experience in horticultural design, site supervision, and quality control, with a strong focus on plant health, soil management, and sustainable practices.
In-depth knowledge of plant species, irrigation systems, and planting strategies for complex landscape projects.
Familiarity with local environmental regulations, safety standards, and best practices in horticulture.
Proficiency in horticultural software and project management tools.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
For BSc Holders: Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Botany, Plant Science, or a related field from a recognized university, with over 15 years of relevant experience.
For MSc Holders: Master's degree in Horticulture, Botany, Plant Science, or a related field from a recognized university, with over 12 years of relevant experience.
Professional Membership: Membership in a recognized chartered institution related to horticulture (e.g., Chartered Institute of Horticulture or equivalent).
Language Skills: English is mandatory.
Professional Experience: A minimum of 12-15 years of experience in horticulture, with at least 5 years in a managerial role. Other Skills:
Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
Strong problem-solving abilities and a systematic approach to managing horticultural projects, ensuring efficient task execution.
