Parsons is seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Project Management Consultant (PMC) team for a high-profile infrastructure project. This role involves providing expert technical guidance on all geotechnical aspects, from site investigation and analysis to design and construction support, ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
As a crucial member of the Project Management Consultant (PMC) team, tasked with providing expert guidance on geotechnical aspects of a high-profile infrastructure project. This role requires in-depth knowledge of soil and rock mechanics, ground behavior, and foundation design, along with the ability to manage geotechnical risks effectively.
As the Senior Geotechnical Engineer , you will oversee site investigations, analyze geotechnical data, and ensure that designs and construction activities align with project specifications, safety regulations, and international standards. Acting as the client's representative, you will collaborate with contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities to resolve complex geotechnical challenges and ensure the stability and safety of the project infrastructure.
This position demands a combination of technical expertise, strong leadership, and exceptional problem-solving skills to address challenges such as soil instability, settlement, and groundwater management. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in geotechnical engineering for large-scale infrastructure projects, including tunneling, embankments, and foundation works. By driving innovative solutions and ensuring best practices, the Senior Geotechnical Engineer will play a pivotal role in the project's successful delivery.
What You'll Be Doing:
Geotechnical Investigations
• Oversee and review geotechnical site investigations, including borehole drilling, soil sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze geotechnical data to evaluate ground conditions and provide recommendations for design and construction.
Design Review and Validation
• Review and approve geotechnical designs, including foundations, retaining structures, slope stability, and earthworks.
• Ensure compliance with international design standards (e.g., Eurocodes, BS, ASTM) and local regulations.
• Provide input on geotechnical aspects of tunneling, embankments, and other infrastructure components.
Construction Support
• Monitor geotechnical works during construction, such as excavation, dewatering, piling, and ground improvement.
• Conduct inspections to verify compliance with design specifications and address unforeseen ground conditions.
• Advise on remedial measures to resolve geotechnical issues encountered during construction.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation
• Identify geotechnical risks, such as settlement, slope failure, or soil instability, and develop mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with contractors to implement risk management plans and ensure project safety.
• Identify and address geotechnical risks proactively to prevent delays, cost overruns, or safety issues.
Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement
• Act as the primary liaison for geotechnical-related matters, coordinating with contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
• Work closely with structural, civil, and environmental teams to integrate geotechnical solutions seamlessly into the overall project.
Testing and Quality Assurance
• Review laboratory and field testing results for soil and rock properties to validate design assumptions.
• Develop and implement quality control procedures for geotechnical works.
Documentation and Reporting
• Prepare and review geotechnical reports, method statements, and risk assessments.
• Provide regular updates and progress reports to stakeholders, highlighting key risks and solutions.
Technical Leadership :
• Provide expertise in geotechnical investigations, analysis, and design to ensure robust and efficient infrastructure solutions.
Construction Support :
• Monitor and guide geotechnical activities on-site, addressing unforeseen conditions and implementing mitigation measures.
Stakeholder Collaboration :
• Act as the primary point of contact for geotechnical matters, coordinating seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams and regulatory authorities.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering , Civil Engineering , or a related field.
• Minimum 10-15 years of design experience in geotechnical engineering , with at least 5 years in a PMC or client representative role .
• Proven expertise in large-scale infrastructure projects, such as Metro, Rail, Highways, or Tunneling.
• Proficiency in geotechnical analysis and design software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio, Rocscience, AutoCAD Civil 3D).
• Strong understanding of ground investigation techniques, soil mechanics, and foundation design.
• Familiarity with international standards and codes of practice.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
